“Paradise ... A stunning, secluded and welcoming resort”
Reviewed 13 June 2012

This is a fantastic well run resort far away from the Patong beach action.

**Pros
Check in was smooth, fast and friendly
Breakfast - simply amazing, so much choice and superb quality, doubt you have had anything close to this choice and quality!!
Happy Hour cocktails 260 bhat for two!
Stylishly designed hotel
Service - 5 star quality, prompt, polite and friendly service
Rooms - big, clean, well designed
Bed - plump, firm and comfy
Poolside recliners - great pool and bar
Free DVDs for a night in

**Cons
If you want to get to Phuket town for the weekend market - costs 500 Bhat round trip each and takes 45 mins
If you want loud bars and nightlife then you need to go to Patong I guess, depends on your interests
Meals are not low price, however I thought they were of a very high quality (guilty pleasure - bugers were fantastic as a break from Thai food)

Room Tip: Room 319 was perfect! Phuket town weekend market, great tshirts and goods to buy Singer in lounge...

Amazing resort tucked away in it's own little piece of heaven.
We stayed in a pool villa and would recommend anyone looking to stay in the resort to pay that little bit extra for the luxury the villa provides!!
The staff were amazing and could not do enough for you.... Especially those in the sandbox restaurant who's food was delicious!!
Will definately return.... See you all next year!!!

Was there over the wettest period we have ever experienced in Phuket. Lucky for us the last 2 nights were spent here.

The check in was so fast the welcome drinks were lagging behind. And we received a follow up call on the check in process and experience. The normal room was as pictured and of a good size. The bathroom has an open concept that also allows privacy. Aircon could have been a little cooler but was not a major issue.

The staff are all very friendly and very much empowered to make day to day decisions without having to check back with senior management. They make it a point to make you feel welcome and consistently provide the highest quality of customer service I have seen in a long time. One can get a sense of their motivation and sincerity.

The breakfast buffet has got to be the icing on the cake - by far the best buffet I have had anywhere bar none. In Thailand especially, breakfast buffets seem to be a major challenge. But this has got to be the major exception.
Nathan Chilcott who heads up the Food & Beverage as Exec Chef has a wealth of experience and does everything in the kitchen with a passion. He has worked with Gordon Ramsey's Michelin 2 Star restaurant Petrus in England and in many parts of the world. Young and enthusiastic, the breakfast spread boasts fresh juices of all sorts, a bloody/virgin Mary (self mixed), 10 kinds of ice cream, wonderful crepes with many choices of topping. Eggs of all form and a tremendous variety of other cooked food that is truly awesome. They even got the bacon right!

The child's pool could be a bit brighter and bigger, and I had hoped there were more choices outside the hotel as an option. Turtle Village nearby does not offer a lot of choice but the Coffee Club on the ground floor there was very decent. This is a short (free ride from the hotel)

The pricing of food at the Renaissance was typical of that of a hotel and whilst not exactly economical, always offered tremendous value. For afternoon coffee or tea, we were always offered some 'complimentary cookies' to go along with our beverage. At the sand box we were also offered a nice desert too. Pizza was great and try the "Renaissance" pizza which was delicious. Also the Thai Fried rice with crab was yummy!

We took the Tuk Tuk out to the nearby JW Marriott for Italian food at Cucina which was really good too.

It has to be said that Jason Neull (GM) has got everything nearly perfect, and more than most others could hope for. He has somehow managed to look after his staff's welfare and their commitment to the guests, as far we were were concerned, was unwavering. We were impressed...

WELL DONE!

We shall be back in better weather to fully enjoy the hotel and the facilities soon.

Spent a long weekend here. The hotel entrance and lobby were beautiful, very modern, minimalist and relaxing, with lots of zen influences. Kudos to the interior designer who designed this hotel. Guests are given a welcome juice drink and ice-cold face towel.

We are HH Diamond members and so were upgraded to a pool villa. Pool was a nice dipping pool with outside deck chairs. Bedroom was very comfortable as was the seating area with couches. Nice big comfy bed and bedsheets. Deluxe European coffee maker with illy coffee. Lots of closets and storage space. Because of our hotel status, we got a nice bottle of complimentary wine, snacks & drinks, and afternoon cakes everyday (which are actually leftovers from the breakfast buffets but hey it's still a nice touch).

Bathroom was bright and big, with a huge bath tub, separate shower, and also there was a shower outside by the pool as well. Lots of towels. I did notice a couple of drain flies flying around. These are nasty flies that grow out of plumbing and are immune to water. We'd experienced drain flies infestation in Shanghai where we used to live. This problem is largely eradicated in the US where S shape pipes are used and prevents them from flying. They are more common in Asia where some places still use straight pipes. Not sure if the hotel can do much about this though since it's a structural problem. There are also mosquitoes sometimes so best to keep the doors close at all times.

It is now low season so the feel and atmosphere is very different from high season when there are crowds and tons of entertainment. Right now, the resort is very quiet and low key, which is just what we wanted. Nice big outdoor pool. Beach is very long, but not swimmable now due to Monsoon season high waves, and also quite a bit of garbage are washed up ashore by the strong waves. But we still took long walks along the beach and waded into the beach water; the scenery is still nice. By the beach is the bar and beach restaurant. The staff there are so friendly and very attentive. Food there is pretty good.

Upstairs of the beach restaurant is the Thai restaurant. Earlier reviews have said that the food was so-so, but they must have heeded the critics and improved. The Thai food there (while more pricey than other places in Bangkok) were quite good in both taste and presentation.

The best was the breakfast--impressive arrays of selections at the buffet. I've been to many breakfast buffets in Asia and this one is to me definitely one of the best. Loved the vegetarian section!!!

Not too impressed with the dinner at the buffet restaurant though. Their dinner buffet (which is now closed due to low season) features all meat and seafood, which for vegetarians is nothing of interest, but if you just want to eat lots and lots of meat and seafood then I guess it may be worth it. The a la carte was mediocre -- go with the Thai restaurant.

The hotel grounds are also beautiful. All the standard rooms look nice from the exterior. One feels relaxed and comfortable at every spot in this hotel. I'd definitely come back again.

Had a very enjoyable short stay here. Staff cannot be more helpful, room excellent (despite sharing it with teenage son), great gym and pool and, apart from use of bikes, also a complimentary shuttle service to shopping complex by tuk-tuk. Local places to est close by so you don't have to eat at hotel if you don't want to. We particularly loved the use of the bikes.
