The only positive thing about this place is that the supermarket offers better deals than the one in the nearby Turtle Village. Other than that, there is nothing much to do there. There is a very poorly stocked souvenir shop, couple of "boutiques" with seriously overpriced and tasteless bric-a-brac of very low value, an estate agent, and a couple of eateries/bars. I won't recommend eating there: the prices are ridiculously high while the food is below average. You'll be much better off if you opt for a beach shack meal (5-10 min walk from there maximum) - the shacks are right on the beach near Anantara and on the service road that leads to the Anantara's service entrance (a slip-road that starts right behind the Shell petrol station nearby). Food there is of much better quality and very decently priced. Overall, the Mai Khao Plaza is a dull, dusty, overpriced place with no character at all. That's the reason why it is always almost completely empty.
