This was our first stay in a holiday home with its own pool and we weren’t disappointed. The house is in an extremely quiet cul de sac with very few neighbours so little or no noise except the relaxing and tranquil sound of the river Tec. The river is worth a look and is only a short walk from the house. The very French looking house is spacious with really good sized rooms throughout. The kitchen for all you budding chefs is a great size and extremely well equipped probably more so than our UK home so no excuse to knock up some great meals. The supermarkets are less than 25 minutes away and are well stocked with plenty of fresh produce, the fish monger being a particular favourite of ours. For those who like to eat out Amelie Les Bains Palalda is a short drive and offers a few restaurants and bars. Then there’s the historic town Ceret set in the foothills of the Pyrenees which is only 30 mins away which offers stunning architecture and an array of restaurants and bars. There is also an evening market which is well worth a visit.
There’s plenty to do in the area from walks in the stunning Pyrenees or cycling of which there are two bikes in the garage. The Gorges de la Fou is a very short drive and well worth a visit for is cooling walk up the gorge. There’s also a few very good and reasonably priced café bars to satisfy all tastes. For the beach lovers Argeles-sur-mer and Racou to name just a few are just a 45 minute drive and they are stunning with plenty of nearby parking, bars and restaurants.
For those who like to have a lazy day then there’s nothing better than a day by the fantastic pool with its surrounding gardens and jaw dropping backdrop of the mountains.
The house has a large collection of books, games and dvd’s to keep all ages happy. The wifi is very fast considering it’s location and the tv package has everything you could possibly want. During our stay we did an overnight stay in Barcelona which was a very easy drive and just over 2hrs. I can’t rate the home highly enough, I say home because it was very homely and extremely comfortable . We had a wonderful and very relaxing 2 week holiday and can’t wait to go back.
Many thanks to Guy and Caroline for our stay and for being a pleasure to deal with.
A wonderfully equipped house for a great get away to the Vallespir. There is a wonderful pool and everything you could want in the kitchen, a bucket of Lego and Magnetix to keep the younger ones amused, not to mention more DVDs and books than any family could get through in a month, and the owners could not have been more helpful. A truly great place for staying put and relaxing, or as a base for exploring the beautiful local area. We had a lovely time and wish we could have stayed for longer!
Our Family shared the house with our very good friends for a glorious two weeks. The house is very spacious and well equipped. I like to dabble in the kitchen and it was a joy cooking in the wonderful French kitchen which had everything we wanted to serve up some fantastic food during our stay. The French supermarkets are less than 25 minutes away offering an array of French produce (Fresh Fish, Girolle Mushrooms were plentiful) Intermarche in Ceret was by far the best. The location can only be described as spectacular and it was amazing to wake up every morning to look out onto the Pyrenees and surrounding French houses - oh and lets not forget the very inviting clean pool. The House has plenty of out door space with various gardens surrounding it. Ceret is only a 30min drive away and a fantastic place to visit in the evening to eat out and sample the local Vin Rouge. During our stay we incorporated a 2 day trip to Barcelona as it was only a 2hr drive from the house; this gave us the opportunity to enjoy a city break and the drive was easy. The local beaches at Argeles Sur Mere and Racou were clean and big enough even during the busiest days, with plenty of restaurants and snack bars. All in all a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday and we cant wait to go back - Thanks Caroline and Guy for letting us stay in your fantastic home.
We had a short visit here and what a great place. Beautifully positioned and surrounded by tree clad mountains and views to die for. The spacious house is lovely and bright with super accommodation. There is a very nice pool although we did not use it as the air temperature was not conducive to swimming. Such a pity we did not stay longer. Would thoroughly recommend.
Rue des Lauriers has everything you could hope for for a relaxing and interesting holiday. The house was very comfortable - good mattresses, nice sofas and armchairs in the very spacious lounge and everything you could need in the kitchen. The house is in a quiet cul-de-sac nestled in the foothills of the Pyrenees, with patio, swimming pool and lovely views. There is lots to see 'out and about' historically due to the numerous forts and abbeys on the area.
We only stayed a week, not long enough, and had to force ourselves out of the house to make the journey back home.
