The property is in a lovely, though difficult to reach, location with amazing views. The shuttle stops running at 4:30 PM to and from town. This means that if you want to go out for the evening you are looking at $15 taxi rides in both directions, or having to eat dinner at the Lodge, which I do not recommend. I don't know who told this hippie she could cook, but the food was a well-intentioned terrible. Everything was starchy and pasty. I could not tell the chicken from the yucca. When I mentioned the carb-heavy menu, the manager just told me "This is Panama." This was the same response I got when I wished for a drawer to put my clothes in and a pot with a handle to boil water.
It seems the hippy ethos of "Whatever, man" is perfectly at home in the dysfunctionality of the world of "manana." Add to this 5 dogs barking, and you've got the picture.More
