We make sure to visit Jérome during the summer and our experiences have generally been excellent. August visit this year was impeccable, second visit in early-September was a little disappointing.
We had requested a table for two by the terrace window for a special occassion, booked well in advance, and staff on the phone confirmed our special request. On arrival, we were ushered to a table at the back of the room next to the entrance, after noting this was not to our preference we were given the option of a table in the unfortunately decorated ante room, right under an air conditioner and it was freezing! Thankfully staff turned off the air-conditioning. Still, the ante room is not a pleasant spot for a Michelin-star studded meal, and service was evidently less attentive here. Alas, with an otherwise full dining room we had little alternative options.
I opted for the four course menu, my wife the a la carte. Food as ever was superb and almost flawless. The pigeon, which I have taken here several times, was a little overdone this time and the foie gras blackened, but otherwise a perfect, and complementary menu. Overall, food excellent and never disappoints, wine list always impresses, sadly service, on our most recent visit, let us down.
