Just spent eight days at the Village Resort. When we first drove in to the entrance we were concerned, but that concern was short lived. The hotel is like a little tropical oasis. The grounds and pool area are stunning and the recent work in the reception area and restaurant is excellent.
As this was low season, it was quiet and we did on occasions have the pool area to ourselves, but happy with that. Ate at the restaurant on a number of occasions and the food was excellent with prices similar to some of the good places in town. Equally the breakfasts were good with good options.
All of the staff were really pleasant and happy to help. The accommodation was excellent and spacious albeit the bathrooms seemed a little tired, but that may have been part of the decor charm. Rooms cleaned daily to a good standard.
The hotel would be much better if it had a gym and some form of entertainment in the evening for those not popping into Karon. But other than that, we really enjoyed our time here. The improvements to the recent building work is complete and looks really quite classy. If you go, you won’t be disappointed.

The Village is part of a bigger hotel but is like a private paradise
The staff are friendly and helpful although their English is limited
I had a great massage, but my friend had a less experienced masseur
It was very quiet at this time of the year so like our own villa!
Short walk to the beach and all other services
No children under 12

We switched on short notice from a disappointing hotel (Hyatt Place Patong) to this gem and were astounded. Such a nice surrounding and atmosphere.

You are deep in nature and in your private villa which is very spacious. A living room, a separate wardrobe room and bathroom with bathtub and a nice very comfortable bedroom. The pool area was great and the spa offered excellent massage options. The breakfast offered many options in a nice open environment next to the pool area. So chilled and romantic.

Even it might sound not so nice, it was great that there were not any kids below 12 years (at least not allowed in the pool).

The only things could be improved:
- a flat pillow option, the ones provided were too thick/high.
- electricity was down for a couple of times (more a regional problem)
- Internet and TV was down for a whole day (when it was raining)

Great choice! Would definitely come again.

When we first arrived here after staying at a new 5 star luxury hotel in Myanmar we were really quite disappointed, but the hotel definitely grew on us with its shabby chic look. The rooms were huge, with a large bathroom with enormous bathtub, mirror with seat, walk-in shower and toiletries, a separate dressing area with wardrobes, a huge bed and a great sized sitting area with television and fridge - we spent a lot of time here in the evening after returning from dinner. Air conditioning was excellent. I see other people have commented on the padlocks securing the rooms, but we had no issue with that. One problem for us was getting into the bed, as it was on a higher level than the rest of the room and I'd sprained my ankle. The hotel wouldn't be great for people with mobility issues as each villa has quite a few steps.

Pool area is lovely, with plenty of sunbeds and a jacuzzi on top of the "waterfall". Some rooms have their own private access to the pool area but to be honest I wouldn't have paid extra for this. Very relaxing area.

The buffet breakfast was one of the best of our 4 week holiday. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Plenty of choice of cold and hot food which changed every day. Egg station for great omelettes! Good coffee.

No restaurant in the evening, but five minute walk to the left to a few local restaurants and across the road to the beach area. It's a busy road but there's always a security man to help you.

All in all, an excellent stay.

We are 3 women traveling Asia and this hotel was perfect for our budget and our desire to stay in a place slightly more ‘up-scale.’ We were not disappointed. Despite hotel renovations, staff were extremely accommodating in making sure we were well compensated for any noise or obstruction. Spa was glorious, breakfast buffet was simple but good, room was very clean, felt luxurious and we had a lovely bathroom, pool was beautiful, and the grounds were so well-kept.

HOWEVER: the villas can be only entered or exited via sliding glass doors that didn’t seem fully reinforced. The only thing to lock them was a latch when we were inside the villa and a padlock when we left. To be fair, we had zero issues and didn’t necessarily feel unsafe except for when we first arrived at 2am at night in a new place to find that the glass could easily be broken and the doors were not lodged into the villa structure properly. It was all a bit disconcerting. Also, this place is perfect for the under-30 crowd but if you’re looking for a bigger resort with more luxury and more amenities this may not be the place for you.
