“Peaceful rainforest retreat minutes from civilization”

Casa Lina is the brainchild of a young family of European expats who have clearly fallen in love with the wild side of Costa Rica's beautiful rainforests and stunning beaches. The wooden chalets blend well with the verdant scenery that grows all around and the deck out front with comfortable hammocks is a perfect spot to chill and admire the wonderful flora and fauna quite literally on your doorstep. From my hammock I witnessed sloths, toucans, giant iguanas and other lizards, monkeys, hummingbirds, agoutis and many others!

There are two adjoining chalets with an additional small house in the same style adjacent where the owners live. Just a ten minute walk back to the main road and you're within sight of a great beach. Head north to Cocles for an even better spot for surfing or head south and after a very pleasant 40 minute cycle ride you can reach Manzanillo for a truly memorable and much quieter beach experience. Bikes can be rented for an initial $50 cash deposit and an $8 a day charge settled upon checking out. A small supermarket is adjacent to the nearest beach where supplies can be purchased (including a large selection of wine!) to help you make the most of the kitchen facilities where a fridge-freezer and gas stove make cooking up small meals a breeze. I enjoyed cycling towards town in the mornings to get freshly baked goodies from De Gustibus Bakery and bringing them back to enjoy while watching the forest wildlife in full flow.

The bed is comfortable, mosquito net provided does the job, bathroom was clean. The walls at the front have a trellis open-air effect at the very top which allows air to flow through, obviously you'll get a few little friends from the jungle too but only to be expected. Even sitting out at night with a light on I was genuinely amazed at how few bugs were around, the birds and lizards clearly doing a great job at keeping them at bay!

The owners Laszlo and Kinga are very accommodating. If you need any assistance or recommendations they're both very happy to help. I loved my stay, a genuine rainforest house just moments from great beaches and restaurants, what's not to like?

“Lovely jungle retreat!”

When we arrived, late at night and in the pouring rain, we had a wonderful welcome from Laslo; a warmth and willingness to help in any way to ensure our happiness that lasted our entire visit. Both Laszlo and Kinga are so warm and accommodating!
The casa is very clean and well maintained. The deck is situated overlooking the jungle - there were plenty of birds, the sounds of the howler monkeys and we even saw a sloth.
The only suggestion I would make is to have a chair inside - there is plenty of place to sit outside, but I would have liked to be able to sit and read inside before bed - hardly a problem, however, but rather a small suggestion. I did spend my post beach time lounging in the hammock and either reading or enjoying the jungle.
We were able to walk and bike to many different beaches, to grocery and to some area attractions.
I'd stay here again in a heartbeat!
Thank you so much!

“Great jungle cabin, outstanding hosts, & wildlife abounds!”

Cozy cabin located in the jungle with wildlife at your door step. I awoke to the sounds of Howler mokeys nearby, toucans landed next to the cabin, and observed a mother sloth and her baby just off the porch. Hosts are friendly, helpful, and have some great connections for fine food and fresh fish in the area. Accomodations are clean and an excellent breakfast is available. Highly recommend Casa Lina!

“Nice Jungle Cabin”

Arrived at this place just before nightfall. A nice cabin in the jungle, could hear plenty of critters in the jungle. Place was clean, and not as many insects and mosquitos outside as we expected. A great place to chill on the terrace hammock and watch the jungle activity. The owner Kinga was very accommodating.
