I frequently travel to this area on business. I have stayed in many of the area hotels (3 in Fontainebleau, 1 in Barbizon, 1 other in Senart/St Pierre du Perray). You can see my other reviews through my username. In the last 4 years I have stayed in these hotels a total of about 20 times.
I have now stayed in the Clarion 4 times in 2009, each time for 2-4 nights. I emphasize this description is for the standard room: The rooms are enormous even by US standards. They are all suites comprising a bedroom/living area, a superb bathroom, a separate toilet and a kitchen with fridge, microwave and kettle. If you imagine a King bed you would still have enough room for 4 more beds in the main room. In the sitting area you have a large sofa and large coffee table, and a small desk and chair for working. In the bathroom there is a fantastic enormous shower with 2 shower heads (one fixed and one on a flex hose), plus the horizontal heads that direct water on your entire body. In the bathroom there is also a full tub and a vanity with 2 basins. Plus a hairdryer, generous amenities (shampoo, etc) and plenty of fluffy towels. There are also even larger suites available, which are literally double the size of a normal suite. I have been in one of those, and there was a conference table big enough to seat 15 people comfortably.
There is free internet (wired). Just ask at the front desk and they will give you a cable and a sheet with a username and password.
The restaurant is good with some imaginative food although not a long list of options. The bar is good and you can also eat at the bar if you like. There is a small spa and a fitness center.
If this area is convenient for you, I recommend this hotel highly. I saw another review that implied they were told this was 35-40 minutes from the city. That is certainly true if you have a car but it would be inconvenient to stay here if you were intending to be in the city. You can however reach this location by public transport if you are determined. Closest RER is Lieusaint-Moissy which is 3.1km from the hotel, so you would need a cab which are usually not available except by advance arrangement. It takes almost exactly 60 minutes to drive here from CDG. On the other hand, If you have a morning flight back out of CDG it is better to stay at the airport the night before, due to am traffic flowing heavily in that direction. The drive will be more like 2 hours at that time.
The Carre Senart mall is walking distance away (10-15 minutes) with excellent shopping. Also in walking distance (5 minutes) is the bar/restaurant Au Bureau which is decorated like an English Pub, very cosy, variety of draft beers, good food. Next to the pub is a Tex-Mex restaurant and an Italian restaurant. I have eaten at all 3 of these places and recommend them all for good food at very reasonable prices (and much more extensive menus than the hotel.) There is also a bowling alley in walking distance.
Prices in 2009 were usually 90 - 110 euro. Excellent value.
In summary, if this is your location, this should be your hotel.
