We've been in this resort last week (August 2016) the structure is good considering the eastern countries standard. I don't recommend it for the food, the quality is not the best. But the most exquisite side of the Chanalai Resort is due to all its personnel expecially the two young Filippine girls Mimì and Kimberly: they have been great.

Chanalai Garden Resort, Kata Beach – Phuket
Stayed here for 3 nights for our Phuket stop as part of a trip around Thailand. Hotel staff are all very friendly and attentive and the rooms were clean and comfortable. As for the food, we only had the breakfast, but there was a good selection. My only criticism would be the creaky beds! The hotel is close by to lots of shops, restaurants and supermarkets as well as the the beach that has a selection of restaurants too.

Read some average reviews about this place so wasn't expecting too much - how wrong I was! Got a good deal on booking.com - would have paid double what we paid knowing what I do now!
First, location is perfect, walking distance from the beach and close to restaurants and shops, but still nice, quiet and relaxed.
Staff very friendly and take your bags/show you to your room - which is needed as the place is pretty huge. Room was large and airy, air con very powerful, nice big bathroom too and an excellent balcony with a sea view. Only thing I would say is the bed was a bit firm for me but still comfy enough.
2 pools with enough space to not feel crowded and get a bed no problems.
Ok - yes there are a lot of steps as its set in a hill, but come on, there are ramps, lifts and its hardly climbing Everest - I wouldn't let it concern you.
Didn't eat in the hotel so couldn't comment.

This hotel was paradise. The beach is literally across the road with local restaurants nearby very nice ones.
The pool was well cared for and had a pool bar, the amenities very basic but function able but the location is the best near to all the shops and the beach!
Breakfast was a wide variety and catered for everyone and pancakes yum!

I went to Phuket with my mum in September 2015. I found the hotel extremely nice and cosy. The staff is amazing, very helpful and kind, the cleaning is perfect. The food is really tasty even if breakfast could be improved a bit. Kata beach is the best beach in Phuket and it's just 10 minutes far. Close to the hotel you can find many hair salons, massage centres and restaurants.
