Nag Tibba trek was a great and challenging trek for me and my friends. We have picked this trek because it could be finished in less than 3 days and we did not have to take many leaves from office. We booked the trip through Thrillophilia. Right from our enquiry to the last date of the trek, they were communicating to us regarding the trek and I think we have talked with three different people from the organization and the local tour agency. All of them were really helpful and prompt. We selected August 12th, 2017 as our trekking date and finished it on 13th August early morning.
We reached Dehradun early morning on 12th and we boarded the bus at 06:00 am to Nainbagh. From there, our guide, Vikram also joined us. He booked a taxi for three of us and for him from Nainbagh. Pantwari was our destination. Although there was food and accommodation included in the package we carried packets of bread, biscuits and all from Dehradun. We were informed that there will be no food stalls or hotels on the way or near the campsite. The roads from Pantwari were tricky, hardly any house or building on the way. The beginning of the trek was slightly challenging as the road was full of debris and stones. After 2 to 3 kilometers, we could see a better stretch of landscape with forests and streams. We reached a camping spot by late evening and the guide helped us pitch our tents and we shared our food with him as well. The temperature was dropping down as the night approached the region and we started shivering. Immediately we went inside our tent and covered ourselves.
Next morning, we started to climb the hill around 04:30 to reach the top of Nag Tibba. It was around 4.5 kilometers from the base to the top. Before reaching the top itself, we could see Nag Devta Temple. It was only kilometer from the temple to the summit. We took around 5 hours in total to reach the top as we took the ridge straight up from the temple though there were other ridges. The views from the top were amazing. We saw the tall mountains in the Himalayas, especially from Swargarohini to Nandadevi. It was misty all around and the sights were not as clear as we could find in photographs.
We descended to reach Pantwari before sunset and we had to reach Dehradun that night itself. Our flight from Dehradun to Mumbai was around 8 am the next day. It would have been a great trek if the guide was an experienced one. The one who was with us was not familiar with this trek but somehow he managed.
