“A 5 star rating is not high enough to describe our stay in Grace's Tuscan Villa”
Reviewed 28 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

Grace's Tuscan Villa.

A five star rating is not high enough to describe our stay in Grace's Tuscan Villa.

We arrived for our 11 day stay in Grace's Tuscan Villa, 20 minutes north of Florence
( Firenze), accompanied by our friends and were met by Grace and Ivo. I fell in love with the property immediately. Grace showed us around. The Villa was exactly as described and depicted on the web site and was furnished with tasteful antiques, in keeping with the location and atmosphere.
Ivo drove us into the town of Pratolino, a few minutes down the road. as the grocery store was about to close, and he helped us do a quick shop for necessities for our morning breakfast. Back at the Villa, Grace made us feel at home with a welcoming tray of fruit, cheeses, olives, bread and wine and beer. She talked about the area and advised us to rent a car so that we could experience the beautiful countryside.
We spent the days either relaxing in the comfort of the villa , sitting on the deck , enjoying views so beautiful that pictures cannot do them justice, or touring the Tuscan Hills, visiting non- tourist areas. One day we took the train from Vaglia to Florence and the train from there to Pisa for a truly enjoyable day. Another day we took the train north to Venice where we enjoyed a gondola ride and pleasant walk through the high spots of Venice. A few days we spent wandering around Firenze. There is so much to see and do in Firenze. The highlight for me was visiting the Academia to see Michelangelo's David along with some of his other sculptures. On returning from all our side trips we got to enjoy our home away from home, we would head into the jacuzzi to ease our aching feet, then relax in our favourite sitting room . No cramped hotel rooms for us. We had the freedom to wander around, getting a snack from the kitchen, making cappuccinos or enjoying a glass of Tuscan chianti on our deck or in one of the many sitting rooms.
One night Grace prepared a delicious supper for us, rabbit , pork, the BEST pasta, veggies etc.. Another day she baked a crostata for us.
She was there to advise us, for example, don't drive to Firenze, take the train from Vaglia, where to go to get train tickets etc. Grace was there when we needed her but was never intrusive.
Words cannot express how much we loved Grace's Tuscan Villa, and Grace and Ivo's hospitality.
Our last morning there,Grace and Ivo picked us up (we had returned our rental car the day before) with 2 cars to accommodate both us and our luggage and drove us to the train Station.

Grace we will never forget you.

“Amazing!”
Reviewed 13 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We have traveled to many places but none gave us what we got from Grace's Tuscan Villa. We were able to relax, after our days in Florence and our mini day trip to Pisa, overlooking the Tuscan hills. We also took in a few Tuscan sunsets on the patio as we ate dinner that we cooked in the gourmet kitchen... that makes the best coffee by the way. In the evening we would relax with our vino in the hot tub.
Everything about this villa made us feel like we were living the dream... really we were. Sweet Grace was always making sure we were looked after... it was a vacation in true Tuscan fashion. One that we will not forget.

“A Bit of Heaven Under the Tuscan Sun”
Reviewed 20 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

Located up in the hills 10 km north of Florence (a quick 20 minute drive to the city center and all the sites), this retreat was the center of our fabulous Tuscany vacation.

Grace Maria Scanza, her handy brother-in-law Ebo and trusty Border Collie Brio are the masters of this former working farm with gorgeous views and wildlife. Graces lives ½ mile down the hill from the main house (the one where you stay) in a smaller house she and her late husband built in the 1990s. The large and rustic old farm house has been updated with all the comforts of home:

• Four bedrooms (comfortably sleeping 7), each with an antique armoire and dresser – plus a sitting room downstairs that includes a sofabed so could work as a fifth bedroom
• Five full bathrooms (four with a shower stall, the fifth with a tub)
• A huge kitchen with a dining area, large island, magnificent oven, large stovetop, microwave, cappuccino maker, large refrigerator, and all the utensils necessary to cook up all the standard Tuscan dishes
• Several large sitting rooms
• Family room with a piano
• Inside/outside patio with a large hot tub
• Large laundry room with a functional clothes washer (outside clotheslines leave your laundry smelling fresher than new!)
• Outside patios with incredible views of the countryside
• Fine furniture and luxury touches in every nook and cranny
• Excellent heating and air conditioning systems – plus the largest hot water heater we’ve ever seen
* Powerful wireless internet -- which worked when five of us were accessing it at the same time

Grace is a wonderful hostess, always available when you need questions answered, but away in her own home to leave you as much privacy as you want. We did not dream we were headed to this much luxury when we rented the place, and we plan on coming back!

“A Lovely Place in the Beautiful Tuscan Countryside”
Reviewed 17 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

This villa is a wonderful place for a family or group of couples to spend a Tuscan vacation. The house is large and has most modern facilities. There are plenty of bathrooms to go around and the Espresso/Cappuccino machine in the kitchen is a real bonus. You will need a car if you stay here. The history and the hustle and bustle of the city of Florence is about a 20 minute drive from the villa. Tour the museums and cathedrals and dine in Florence, but return to the villa for peace and quiet and maybe a good book. There is a TV but we never turned it on. Grace, the owner will bend over backwards to see that you and all the guests in your party happy while you stay at her villa. The scenery is amazing and the Jacuzzi/Hot Tub was very relaxing in the evening before going to bed. My wife and I were invited to stay at Grace's Villa with our niece, her husband and her brother-in-law and any of the five of us would recommend staying at Grace's Tuscan Villa. It is just amazing!

“Beautiful and tranquil villa in a great location.”
Reviewed 11 October 2013 for a stay in September 2013

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful villa which is set in it's own grounds with an electric gate. The villa is very spacious, well furnished and equipped. Nothing was too much trouble for the owner Grace, she made our stay as comfortable as possible and went out of her way to help with our requests. Magnificent panoramic views of the Tuscan countryside from the villa's patio. A car is essential when staying here as the nearest supermarket is several miles away. There is a local train station a couple of miles down the road. All things considered, this is a really good place to stay if you want a peaceful and relaxing holiday.
