Me and my fiancé booked the Waters Edge Apartment seeking a quiet scenic holiday. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon with the relief of having a designated parking space and a very short walk to the apartment. We parked up and was instantly very happy with the location and the surroundings. The Apartment was clean, fresh, tidy and very spacious. Much to our surprise there was even a tea and coffee tray. There are even tourist attraction leaflets and information left for the next guest(s) which we found very handy as they had the addresses on etc. (we even left some). With it being self catering I was questioning what was available in the property. In the bedroom there is a double bed, bedside cabinets, a dressing table, a wardrobe and a long mirror - very spacious too! The bathroom had what you'd normally expect to find and the living room is pleasant with everything you would need/want. The kitchen is very well organised, from wine/champagne glasses to cups for that all important cup of Yorkshire tea! There is also plenty of cooking equipment if you decide to make and cook a meal (which we did twice). There is a fridge and mini freezer, placemats, coasters and even the all important washing up essentials, Iron and board. I will have to stop there but I could go on! The village pubs food is amazing and the locals are friendly. The village shop is good too. The waterfall is literally a 20 second walk from the front door and is beautiful. You barely here it when inside. (I'm a light sleeper and didn't wake up to it). The location is perfect, you're in reach of everything and tourist attractions (If you drive obviously). If you like walking and exploring, you will be in your element. Finally, the service I received from start to finish was faultless. I even had the pleasure of talking to the owner who is very welcoming and friendly. The overall experience, one of my favourite holidays! Thank you, I would definitely recommend this holiday rental.
We stayed at The Waters Edge apartment in the middle of a very wintry January. The Mill is tucked into a quiet corner of West Burton, an idyllic, chocolate box Yorkshire Dales village. Originally a corn mill, it sits alongside a lovely fast flowing beck, with the most beautiful waterfall a mere 200m away. During our stay, the waterfall was in full spate and was an awesome sight to behold.
The booking process was very straight forward, with great communications with the owner. Everything was as described, and although on the top floor, access was easy. The apartment was clean and very well appointed, if a little dated, with everything we needed (and then some).
The local pub is 2 minutes stroll, and there is a butchers and a village shop with tearooms, all of which were excellent. West Burton really is an ideal location for exploring the Dales, walking (right from your doorstep) and sightseeing.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and hope to return to this truly backwater retreat.
