We went to Bandos for our honeymoon in Oct 2009 (Am not able to submit the review without choosing a date and there is no option for dates before Nov 2011). Thought of writing this review on our 3rd anniversary (better late than never!! ). Its undoubtedly the best vacation we have had till date. Its a small island not very far from the Male airport (took us 20 mins by speedboat). The rooms are located on the periphery of the island so every room opens up to beach in front. Amazing view with clear water and white sand. We were there for 4 nights and felt it was too short. Points that we liked:

a. Every room offers sea view from the patio and is private. Nobody disturbs you!
b. They had golf cart service for free which you can take if your room is little far and you are tired to walk
c. Staff is very friendly and helpful
d. They have large variety of activities if you do not want to just lazy around. Water sports (kayaking, para-sailing, snorkelling etc); tours (dolphin cruise, Male city visit, submarine cruise, glass botton boat etc). They even have cultural programs in the evening on some of the days. Saw some ppl playing crab race too :)
e. Lots of recliners on the beach so you can just sit and watch the breathtaking view or read a book and relax.

Things that could be improved (might have been taken care of by now):

a. Restaurants could offer more variety,esp for vegetarians. Breakfast spread was good, but lunch and dinner (we had a-la-carte) selection was limited. We exhausted all veg options in 3-4 meals itself!
b. Spa definitely needs to be improved. Its costly and not worth the price you pay.
c. The reception should have information and contact details for activities that they do not arrange. We wanted to do sea plane trip but they do not offer it and had no info. We had to find it out online, but could not get it arranged within the time frame we had :(
d. Internet and phone call rates are too expensive.

Activities that we enjoyed:

a. Parasailing
b. Kayaking
c. Dolphin cruise
d. Glass bottom boat

We do not know how to swim so missed out on swimming/ snorkeling. Unfortunately there was no submarine cruise happening on any of the days we were there. Also, Male city visit was a waste of time and not worth the money we paid.

Amenities in the resort:

a. They have 3 restaurants. View from the Sundowners is amazing.
b. Resort has family friendly games etc, though we didn't use them. Saw some families with kids having fun.
c. Spa
d. There is a souvenir shop where you can also by swim gear etc, quite costly though. But Maldives as such is expensive for tourists!
e. There is a gym, steam bath...didn't use it though!

Overall, it was a great experience and we still rate it as our no.1 vacation, thanks to Bandos! We definitely plan to return and will stay in the resort again.
