My husband and I stayed for three nights in the Palapa and loved it!

The Palapa is spacious and has everything you need in it. Ginny makes sure to provide you extra towels, cleaning supplies, a clean fridge, a microwave, toaster oven, gas stove burners, you name it! The king size bed is comfortable and the pillows are top notch. The view from the Palapa is just gorgeous and you get a lovely breeze throughout the entire place.

Jordan and I spent our arrival day swimming and lounging on the dock. The second day we endured numerous storms and a power outage in the entire village of Bacalar. Regardless, the Palapa has the ammenities to get you through stormy weather (though I understand our weather was an anomoly for the region).

On our third day, at the recommendation of Steve, we went into town for a boat our around Lake Bacalar. We took Amir's AdvenTours and had an awesome time. I highly recommend Amir if you're into having a time with 20-30 year olds looking for a party.

The location of Pehaltun is about a 5-10 min cab ride from town and will run you about 120 pesos if you're going straight into the downtown center. It's close to the restaurant Rancho Encantado which you can use one of Ginny's kayaks or her canoe to get to. We kayaked and it took us about 10-15 min to get there. If you go... get the Ceviche.

We both highly recommend Pehaltun. It's really awesome and I wish we didn't leave.

Thank you Ginny, Lisa and Steve for your hospitality and generosity.

The sounds of traffic and construction and cellphone "rings" and text message "pings" and thumping stereos... all gone. If you like any of that, you'll have to bring it with you. The peace and quiet from the outside eventually makes its way inside you, and all the stress runs off you like rain water! It really is just piece of paradise. From the hundreds of birds to the 7 colors of blue in the water to the warm breezes... and your just getting out of the car!
Ginny is like your "Cool Aunt" within 10 minutes of being there. It just doesn't get any better. And these folks will not just suggest the right places to eat in town, they'll take you there and help you order the best of the local offerings. They know the town's history, the best of the city's Mojito makers and which ATMs to use or avoid.
The rooms are all a little different, but all have great views and comforts. And if you really get the urge... there are a couple hammocks down on the dock. Go rock under the stars for a few. But do bring some bug spray... everywhere you go in Mexico.
And when you're completely fed up with all the relaxing tranquility... grab a Stand-up Paddle board (my wife's new favorite!) or a kayak and head out onto the lake. Or better yet, ask Steve or Lise to crank up the Moomba and drag you around the lake until your arms fall off. Wakeboard, slalom, hydrofoil, tube... even barefoot ski. Or just take a slow tour of the lake and enjoy the sights, some drinks and sun. Or ask them to set you up with one of their friends who does kayak tours, bird watching hikes or any other activity that's an option
My only complaint... we didn't give ourselves enough time to enjoy everything the Villas had to offer! We will NOT make the same mistake next spring when we go back!

Room Tip: Get the "Casita"... doesn't get any better!

The most beautiful lagoon and the most beautiful and tranquil place to stay. Ginny is a fantastic host that make us feel always at home. I had the chance to stay in the three accommodations during my two visits; one in December and the last one in June, and each of them has something special. Very inspiring place to have a relaxing time. .D Highly recommended!! Don't miss the lagoon tour and the local traditional restaurants in town.

We just got back from 4 nights at the Pehaltun Villa Casita. We hated to leave. We had been traveling through the Yucatan, and this was our last stop. We were so pleased with our casita. Ginny was traveling, but we were taken care of very well by Steve and Lisa. The check in and instructions were helpful, and they were awesome checking a hot water issue immediately and also referring us to an excellent boat guide for a lake boat tour! The view was so gorgeous, and the dock area--I could have spent all day there! We were pleasantly surprised at how nice the weather was, 80s, very pleasant, and no biting bugs, even in the evenings! What a great surprise! The casita is very well equipped, and very clean. Every afternoon we had a brief rain shower, then the lovely sun would come back. We were given info on the town and where to find recommended places to eat. We ended up really liking the hotel/restaurant right next door on the lake, Rachero something (sorry!), but you won't miss it, they have a huge sign off of hwy. Eating in town was fun too, ask about the restaurant on the lake with the HUGE tree, it is a fun place! Our boat tour was the highlight, and we had perfect weather. Ask them to hook you up with Kristal (French), she was awesome! There are kayaks, snorkel equipment and life vests for your use. This really is a great place! ANd if you like dogs, you will love it even more! ALso, the old fort in the town of Bacalar is worth an hour or so of your town, it is very interesting to tour and see.

Room Tip: We stayed in the casita, but all 3 looked nice. The palapa roof is the closest to the nice dock.

We stayed in Palapa for few nights. Beautiful setting with an amazing view. The house had everything you need to feel comfortable, was clean and fairly insect free ( huge bonus for me ). Really enjoyed the deck, kayaks and the clear blue water. Lovely host, Ginny who is super lovely and very helpful. The only thing I'd change is weather as we weren't too lucky with it but it gives us another reason to go back. And it's dog friendly, ours absolutely loved it and had the best holidays.
