“Rain & Sun at Goa”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 August 2012

To start with, we got a good value for money package for 4 days and nghts at the hotel last week. The hotel is 3 to 4star property (almost 30years old). The location is superb and due to the season, very few people were on the beach. The main highlight is the large rooms, although the bath rooms are a bit tight in comparison. Also, the food is very good for Indians although the non Indians may find the taste a bit spicy or oily. This is an ideal mid budget pace for families and has all the addons like Spa, Gym, Play courts and children's area, etc. There are two pools but I did not quite enjoy them. The indoor pool did not look clean and the outdoor pool is a little deep for a family where everyone is not a swimmer. Beach makes up for this loss though with white sands and clean water during high tide.

Room Tip: The rooms are large enough for a family of four (two adults and two children). Ask for beach facing...

Location : Excellent and that is all... your wow experience ends there

At time of check-in : Process for us ( we were 3 couple and 2 kids) was very smooth

Rooms : We got room number 221, 222 & 223. I was in 223 These were the most depressing room I have ever seen in any to be claimed 4 star property. The first question in my mind was how the hell we are going to stay 4 nights here..... color was pilled off from Wall, bathrooms were shady.. no proper light effect in room.... quality of furniture was too bad.... beds were not at all comfortable...

however we were pretty tired and wanted some quick rest after 500 KM driving from Pune to Goa so none of us uttered a word about it...

Now it's time to shower and when I started te shower what I see is little muddy water... This was same with all other two rooms... again none of us uttered a word about it and got refreshed for 7.30 to 8.30 on the house drinks and dinner.

Once we are out from the room around 7.30 PM we realized that our rooms doors are directly openings into the area to most depressing ambiance with indoor swimming pool of any hotel I have ever stayed (I am going to Goa for last 17 years - at least 2 times a year and stayed from no star to 7 star hotels)

This was there area where they were serving free drinks, there was third grade live band playing... and that was the only day we stayed back in hotel for dinner and drinks...

Day 2: after nice swimming in morning when I come back to room, I have no hot running water in hot water tap. According to house keeping there was some issue which was suppose to be fixed in 10 mins took almost 3 hours and this hot water breakdown affected to all rooms in the hotel.

Phew, it's 2 PM now and finally they said the problem is fixed and I can have hot water running in my bath room. Happy me opened the hot water tap and got lifetime free water with lods of mud in it ( picture attached)

This time I was really pissed off and went to duty manager with photos clicked on my phone.

Duty manager was polite and quick and send so many engineers to my room to fix the problem. But problem was with hot water distribution system and not with my room. It took another 1 hour for them to figure this out.

I asked duty manager to change our rooms ( 3 rooms) and she was finally got ready to do so.

She allotted new rooms - 419, 421 & 422 for us ( They do not have room 420 :-) )

Me and my friend personally checked the room before we accepted to shift to new rooms.

Newly allotted Rooms were far better than the one which we were currently in but not up to 4 star standards anyway. We might have felt t good because of the room were staying in currently were most disgusting room.

I checked for quality of water running it looked okay to me and finally we shifted to new rooms.
And suddenly all of us started to see hope that we may enjoy our stay of next 3 nights in this very shabby hotel.

Food :
Breakfast - average
Lunch - Below average
Dinner - Disgusting

I suggest you take only breakfast deal that all meal deal ( we opted for all meal, my bad)
We had all breakfast and only 1 dinner ( 1st day) in hotel...

Check-out
- was okay, they snatched the room key from my friend's wife while she was still packing her bags in the room... disgusting...

I will never stay in this hotel again for this price... we spent 22K for 4 nights.
If you are getting 4 night deal anywhere near 10K to 12K then it's good else with 22K you have really good options around.

We made huge mistake...

We had read a whole lot of varied reviews of the resort but anyway ended up choosing it for our family vacation and i must tell everybody that we were pleasantly surprised. Well, the customer responsiveness may not be at it's best but the value that Majorda Beach Resort offers is superb. Since it is one of the oldest beach facing resorts in south Goa, the resort is located facing a beautiful stretch of beach. The property is huge and well laid out with good space for you to actually live the lovely natural beauty of Goa. The main hotel is beautiful and reminds you for a 16th Century Portuguese villa. The food was tasty and well laid out and had a good choice for vegetarians. We had chosen the cottage which is the closest you can get to the beach. The cottage is pretty large and has a lovely sit out that overlooks the lawns/ grounds of the resort. The rooms are old but well maintained and so is the property. We definitely enjoyed our vacation and look forward to staying at Majorda Beach Resort again soon.

Room Tip: Choose the Cottage Rooms, The rooms are large and the view is good.

Arrived at 7.30 am and took a very long passport control. For 30 minutes, taken to the hotel. Placed in 1130, and fed not paid breakfast. The hotel made a good impression - the budget 5 *, very clean, a bit battered, but with a good green landscaped area and normal numbers. The hotel building is very original. Towels and sheets changed every day, they brought two bottles of water and a carafe of water to the kettle, tea and coffee pods. We slept with a fan, maybe during the night were the mosquitoes, and the balcony door did not open. Air conditioning is quite noisy and blows on the bed. The hotel has a casino. Breakfast is the standard. Chose India as the spring holiday and were satisfied with the hotel and by the GOA.
