We had 3 nights here at the beginning of a family holiday in Sicily. After much research we landed on Scopello as our starting point. While I was a little worried about this hotel from some reviews mid year, my worries were completely unfounded. Our rooms and the grounds were immaculate, the views amazing and the pool just beautiful. We also experienced friendly and helpful service. The rooms are not fancy by any means, but they were clean and newly refurbished. We also hadn’t realised that the hotel is at the doorstep of a the tiny but gorgeous village.
The other benefit was the fantastic terrace restaurant where we had dinner and breakfast all 3 days - wonderful friendly service and a wide variety of dinner choices. The restaurant was full every night. There is also an adjoining but separately owned bar near the pool, which was great for a pre dinner drink with a view.
We used the town as a base for visits to Erice and San Vito Lo Capo, which were both great. Although if we had realised, we would have spent more time at the beach at the Tonnara down below the hotel. We only went on the last day to realise that the private area available to guests of the hotel is just fantastic!! You just need to get really clear instructions from reception as to what to do. They will give you passes, which enable you to drive right down through the private gate to the Tonnara (you do have to pay at the gate though - more in the morning than afternoon). Once you get to the water you are able to go through a green door to a small private beach area with chairs. We had an absolutely magical swim there on our last day. Our kids loved it!
The only areas for improvement I would suggest would be the bed comfort and the shower are abit small for tall people, but all in all we absolutely loved our time here and would definitely come back.

I would add my voice to the positive chorus regarding this hotel. We ended a three week European trip with four days here and we are planning on returning next year if that means anything. A stop here was a great way to end a trip. The hotel is indeed in a magnificent spot and the grounds are immaculate and offer breathtaking views. The rooms, although small (with a small shower), are quite comfortable. The hotel is immaculate, and the service and maintenance people are around always tidying up. The restaurant attached to the hotel offers some of the best food in all of Italy. Breakfast is great with a wide selection of food.

The hotel is family run and the matriarch, Maria, made sure we had everything we needed. Her son works the restaurant and the pool bar, and you will see the same faces in the restaurant and around the facility. It gives the hotel a nice homey feel.

One of the best aspects of La Tavernetta, something we discovered on our second to last day, is private beach access to the Tonarra Beach, which is a breathtaking place to spend a half or full day if you need a beach. We couldn't find the private access point the first time we tried, and came back to the hotel to ask more questions. Maria took the time to drive me back down (it's two minutes away) and show me exactly where I needed to go. If you go to La Tavernetta, absolutely spend the mornings at Tonarra. Get a wristband from the front desk that you need to show to security to get in. You get to Tonarra by driving to a private parking spot right at the beach ($10 euro per person for a full day, $5 per for a half day). You walk into the main grounds which is actually a museum. You will see a crush of people in the public spot. Immediately to your left is a green door. Walk through that into the musuem and show the attendant your wristband. walk through the private courtyard and down the steps about 50 yds in front of you and the beach is to your right. There are chairs there for your use and a shaded area under a patio. Bring food and drink as there are no services there. It is worth staying for a picnic.

We always finished our day with a relaxing afternoon at the hotel's great little pool. The views are magnificent. A great spot to curl up with a book and just relax. Pool bar is right there if you need something.

Scopello town, right next to the hotel, is just a small square with five or six really excellent spots to eat. Besides the hotel restaurant, we ended up at Bar Nettuno which has a lovely balcony/patio/dining area overlooking the water. Magnificent. The food at Nettuno was also among the best we've ever had. Il Bagio was also terrific. There are little cafes where you can buy water, snacks and gelato, just as the hotel pool bar does.

There are some nice day trips accessible to you from Scopello (Erice via funicular was fun), and next year I plan on renting a small boat to just to bop around the coastline for a day. But, if you go to Tavernetta, you are going because you want a hassle free, easy and beautiful place to relax. It's the perfect spot for it.

You will find this hotel is a gorgeous setting, in the middle of the village of Scopello, it had immaculate gardens and pool, fantastic breakfast, and the room was excellent.
His hotel is without doubt one of the best we have visited, we would recommend it completely, an absolute gem.

My husband and I have just returned home to Australia after a month in Europe. Our last stop was 6 nights in Scopello. We were not disappointed in our choice of area or hotel. Both exceeded our prior expectations.

The hotel is by far one of the loveliest places we have stayed. We travel frequently so we are harsh critics!

The hotel receptionist was friendly, helpful and efficient. The rooms were quaint and extremely clean. We had a small balcony with a partial sea view. It did face a laneway which was used frequently but it didn’t bother us. The air conditioning worked well and the bathroom amenities from locitaine were a nice touch. The shower is small and the shower head kept falling down but again it didn’t bother us. Perhaps we should have told maintenance earlier in our stay.

The most outstanding feature of this hotel was the immaculate gardens and pool area. Just stunning! The view breathtaking. There is a pool bar and seating area just down from the pool where you can purchase drinks, gelato and snacks. We thoroughly enjoyed lazing around the pool under an umbrella sipping Aperol spritz after a morning at the beach

Wifi worked well. There is a car park if you have a hire car and you can borrow beach umbrellas daily at reception to take to the beach.

The restaurant is also outstanding. The food, wine, service and view would be hard to beat. We ate dinner there twice and breakfast daily. A very good choice of breakfast options and being able to make your own fresh juice was a huge hit with us. We preferred to have our coffee in the square after breakfast for a change of scenery and a spot of people watching.

We really can’t fault this hotel for its location and boutique style accommodation. The rooms aren’t huge but certainly big enough for two large suitcases and plenty of cupboard space with side tables and sideboard storage. The bed was really comfortable also.

Thank you Hotel Tavernetta for making our trip to Scopello so wonderful. We would return and stay again in a heartbeat!

We stayed three nights at the end of our vacation at this relaxing hotel in beautiful Scopello. Our room had been recently redone to high standards, very comfortable. We splurged for a room with a sea view which we really appreciated. The breakfast (and restaurant) were excellent. What makes the place special is that the hotel has large grounds and a pool. The other hotels in town didn't seem to have an outdoor area. This was really nice toward the end of our vacation, we were still close enough to tour Erice and Segesta and enjoy rest of the day relaxing outdoors with a million dollar view. The hotel is closely managed by a family and a small staff. There is a gentle yellow lab (who seems to enjoy a separate life making the rounds of tiny Scopello.) On a summer weekend, Scopello can be very busy -- but it is very quiet during the week. Scopello is less than an hour from the Palermo airport and a perfect place to end (or begin) a trip. We will definitely plan to stay at La Tavernetta again.
