Owner description: Venetsanos winery is located right above the port of Athinios, overlooking the magnificent caldera of Santorini. The winery was designed by the innovator George Venetsanos in 1947. Firstly operated in 1949 and was the first industrial winery on the island. It has a very rich history, unique architecture and amazing views. We loved Venetsanos 2 years ago
Not as much this year as more people have discovered it.

We did the wine tasting as before with the 5 wines being described by Maria. All very nice with some cheese and rusks and tomato paste and fava.

Beautiful setting.

We then went up to the sunset terrace and ordered a bottle of Rose wine to enjoy whilst watching the sunset.

As the sun began to set lots of people came forward to take photos and stood directly in front of our table blocking our view. I had to ask one lady to move. This didn’t happen 2 years ago and we visited in July back then, obviously has become more popular

Location is fantastic, I strongly suggest coming here to enjoy a nice glass of wine & cheese and the beautiful sunset views. Maria is very passionate and gave great details about the different wine offerings.

We stopped by the winery as part of a tour from a cruise ship. I am so glad we took the tour!

The wines are all excellent, as is the food pairing they present you with. The staff are friendly and like to discuss their winery. Quite an amazing place with an outstanding view!

My mum and I booked wine tasting at the sunset. The wine tasting started at 6pm and the sunset was around 7:30

What can I say, it has been one of the best parts of our holiday! We were recommended this winery by our hotelier Stelios Place, and when we arrived we were sat in the best seat in place! Directly overlooking the bay, any closer and we would be been in the water! It was such a beautiful sight.

The wines were delicious, the service was fantastic and the meat and cheese platter was plentiful!

Highly recommend this place as it’s not too touristy and not too busy. Really authentic, a real hidden gem!
