“Must be renewed”

Ranked #1 of 2 things to do in Eftalou

The place looks like an old-fashioned house with rooms.
I found the main pool very small and crowded and the private rooms very old and without basic facilities.
I must say that hot water is not my favourite but my husband likes it, so we went there to try it. We chose a private room, so we were able to use the hot or cold water to fill the bath as we wished.
I have to say that the lady that served us was very helpful and friendly.
The price was really low and it allows you to visit the place every day. But who really needs to feel so relaxed after the hot/warm bath every day?
The only thing you need after that is to sleep !
I prefered the hot water in the sea. You'll find it on the beach, in the seaside road to Sykaminia, 5 min drive after Eftalou. You'll recognise it by the hand-made pool, made by big pebbles just 1 metre in the sea.
Hot water comes out from the earth in the sea and you can change hot-cold by jumping out of the surrounded sea area. It's fun !

It's taken trip advisor about three months to list the spa to enable me to write a review, so you will appreciate that this means that I am working from memory rather than recent experience.

We stayed in molyvos for several days before attending a friends wedding in the capital of the island, we left our visit to the spa till our last day and I still regret that we didn't go down earlier, else I would have been down everyday.

For a few euro's you get the chance to relax in a public ottoman spa at the end of a Tarmac road next to a pebble beach.

You walk about 5 mins from the road to get to the spa, you enter through a small door at the rear of the building where an attendant will explain everything to you. You change behind a small screen and there are secure lockers for your clothes and belongings. You then duck through an archway and down a couple of steps into the main pool room. This is a magical place, small, domed roof and candlelight. The pool is about 3m wide and 5m long, with stone flooring surrounding and pebbles on the base. The naturally heated and non sulphurous wate comes in at one end and leaves at the other, this does mean that one end of the pool is cooler than the other. The idea is that you relax in the pool for about 10 minutes, or as long as you feel comfortable, before leaving and cooling down either in the sea or under a seawater shower. You then repeat this a further two times.

There are private bath rooms if you prefer some privacy.

This place has character, history and authenticity and is a wonderful way to spend an hour or two.....
