By day it is a sophisticated yet relaxed beach dining experience and by night the whole atmosphere transforms into a chic and elegant high-class restaurant with a sumptuous decor. Cafe des Arts offers well cooked cuisine at the high end of the pricing range for Praslin. The amuse bouche was a tataki of tuna with a dollop of guacamole on a crostini, a simple tasty bite. For starters we had a octopus and pumpkin gratin served artfully in a shell- the gratin rich and creamy- and the carpaccio of 3 fishes - including tuna, salmon and jobfish which was pleasant also. For the mains , the snapper with passionfruit sauce was well executed as was the steamed grouper in ginger sauce. The seafood trio grill was a touch on the small side but had well grilled shrimp , lobster and snapper with a creamy sauce . Accompaniments included sautéed aubergine , very tender and flavorful , and a fennel rice , the fennel scenting the rice subtly. They have a wine list which is broad with bottles starting about 500 scr , a bit more than other places for the same bottles, and there is a broad range of cocktails available from their adjacent bar. Service is professional and friendly. One thing to note is the dress code is long trousers for men - which is mandatory . If you call ahead they will put aside a pair of chinos for you to use for the dinner. The restaurant has a view of the beach and the Chauve Souris island.

While staying at the Le Duc during their less busy season, we had dinner here instead of the buffet at the hotel. The food was good but wasn't amazing. I tried to get fish dishes every chance I got. I was surprised to find them over cooked every time. The service was really nice and familiar with the wines they had to serve.

The decor is exceptional and being close to the beach makes it a lovely place to spend time! Service is nice but food quality is poor for the price you pay. Wine choice is limited and restricted and the waitresses do not know much about wine. 2 ladies came to my place and still could not assist with pairing my wine and luckily GOOGLE was there :-)! Expect to spend around SR 3400 approx for 2 starters, 2 main courses and 1 wine + 1 bottle of still water. They are still far behind for a fine dining venue. Probably they have to review their cuisine and Chefs (i noticed also not much great comments lately?!?)

Lovely setting by the beach and decor. There was no mention of a dress code at booking but they made my husband change into trousers. The food was eyewateringly overpriced so much that I ordered a starter for main! The food was good but definitely not worth the price.
