“Great place for older people, provided they can manage steps.”

My latest trip was with my 80 year old uncle who has Parkinson's, my 73 year old aunt who has had both hips replaced and my cousin with one new hip - a real "help the aged" excursion! They all managed the stairs in the house very well and the steps down to the front door have a handrail for support. The only person who fell over her feet was me! However, no harm was done!
They all loved the house and its comforts (especially the beds and the log fire), the view from the terrace - it was their first visit - the proximity to the airport and that we did not have to drive too far to visit my favourite, or other interesting, places eg historic locations for my aunt and shops for my cousin. We made a point of going "out for lunch" every day and a favourite was Paula's where the food was up to her usual delicious standards. After our evening meal, the older relatives were left to their own devices (reading their papers or watching TV till they were ready for bed) while my cousin and I went "up the road " to the bar (Paula's) to enjoy the local social scene and meet friends from my previous trips - so a good time was had by all.

“A lovely relaxing holiday home.”

This will be my 7th year staying in this fantastic holiday home nestling in the hills with great facilities. We enjoyed relaxing round the spacious pool area and the views from the terrace of the surrounding countryside were spectacular. There are lots of lovely walks or even bike rides if you are feeling energetic. There is a local bar within walking distance which serves great food and is run by very friendly people. If you fancy a trip in the car there are lots of places nearby to visit including great shops restaurants and beaches. There is something for everyone at Casa Quintinha. Looking forward to returning in 2014.

“Relax to the max!”

What a fantastic place to relax and unwind! Tucked away on the hillside, with the most incredible views, but still only a short distance away from local amenities and a 20 minute drive from Faro airport, Casa Quintinha is so peaceful, well-maintained and extremely comfortable, you can't help but fall in love with it! Due to the superb facilities and layout you are chilling out and relaxing by the beautiful pool within minutes of your arrival.
This is a lovely villa in a beautiful part of Portugal. If you want English bars and restaurants this is not for you; if you want to experience real Portuguese hospitality and natural beauty, it is. With a car you can explore local towns and villages and in under an hour even reach the Spanish border. The villa is extremely well appointed - a 'home from home' really. The kitchen has everything you need to cook and prepare meals and eating out on the terrace for lunch/dinner is wonderful. Even better, eat out at Paula's Bar - her prawns and baccalau (baked salted cod) are to die for! Comfy beds and a spacious lounge area all contributed to a great, chilled-out 'girly getaway'! I would definitely recommend Casa Quintinha for a wonderful relaxing holiday.

“Lovely villa to share with friends”

Casa Quintinha is a most unassuming villa from the road but when you descend the few steps round the side of the property you discover a beautiful pool and sun terrace. The view across the valley is picturesque and the beautiful smell from the orange blossom trees wafts as you stand and gaze. You also then see the rear of the property which reveals a sizeable ground floor with kitchen and patio doors into the dining room and lounge. Upon arrival the property was very clean and a supply of firewood ready, should the need arise. As the weather initially was overcast we did set and light the fire on some evenings and it made the lounge very cosy and a great place for us seven girls to chat and relax. The 3 bedrooms - located on different levels in the villa - were well appointed and everyone was most comfortable. I slept on the fold down settee and it was great! The villa has two bathrooms, one ensuite, but it was most helpful to have use of an additional bathroom at the poolside - ideal when seven were all trying to get ready to go out. No need to take towels as a plentiful supply available at the villa. Although a bit isolated from the bizz of a main town, the location is only 20 minutes drive from Faro airport and 15 minutes from Sao Brasch. Walking distance away from the villa is a super café/restaurant run by Paula and her family. Most welcoming and good food too. The locals meet there so it not the "touristy" Portugal often experienced in the coastal towns but much more friendly and relaxed. We had a great time playing darts (badly) and pool (some of us need a lot of help there!!!) and just chatting with everyone. Some ex pats and some locals who have some English. All very friendly.
You really need a car when you stay at this property if you want to be out and about and see the surroundings. There are some good restaurants nearby - just 5 minutes by car but a bit if a hike on foot. really enjoyed my stay and hope to return. A great "get away from it all" spot.
