Good Holiday, nice resort, just a couple of issues

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 17 Sept 2015
We travelled as a group of 12 (plus a 9 month old) for 1 week in September 2015. We were placed in blocks A and B which are very close to the main reception and pool area and were advertised as 'Superior' rooms. We found them to be very basic rooms, reasonably sized, but the beds were very hard and reasonably uncomfortable leading to less sleep quality. My mother found that the fact there were no tea or coffee making facilities in the room a little odd. Though there are facilities near the pool bar 24 hours a day to make tea or coffee. The issue with being so close to the main entertainment on a night was that if you didn't close the windows you could hear everything that was going on until around 1am. Not good for people who like an early night!
The all inclusive was okay. It runs up until 11pm each night after which you need to pay for drinks. The drinks on the all inclusive were pretty standard but you could only get beer in 300ml cups/glasses. Though you can serve yourself in the restaurants to drinks (dangerous when wine is on tap). The food was okay, we found that it didn't change much from day to day. The breakfast was the same every day, but there was a large selection available. By no means is it top quality food, however it's very edible. We preferred to eat in the 'Grill' restaurant on an evening. It's the standard buffet spread, however they come to your table with meat on skewers which is apparently like a Brazilian restaurant. The pork was exquisite!
We found that there was plenty to keep us occupied during the day, there's a free bus owned by the hotel which alternates day to day between Vilamoura and Albufeira. We made use of the Mini Golf, French boules and Ping Pong. For the mini golf and ping pong it's a 20 Euro deposit.
Another important point is that the Wifi is 2.50 euro's for 1 hour or 5 for 3 hours.

The one issue which constantly put our holiday on a downer was the entertainment staff. We are usually the kind of people who will join in on any activity which is organised. However it would appear that the Entertainment team only appeared to be interested in recruiting French people to join in. Mainly because most of them are French. However they came across very rude and ignorant to us. Speaking to another guest, he was actually about to put in a complaint to their manager about how rude they were to him when he participated in a game of boules. He also explained that when he visited last year in August, there were English entertainment staff. However we believe they go home at the end of the school holidays in the UK, which leaves the rude French entertainment team to their own devices. Aside from this, we did actually befriend one of the entertainment team who was very pleasant called Pamela. If they were all like her, it would be a much more pleasant place for us to holiday.

All in all, enjoyable despite the small issues.

If you are looking for a relaxing hotel with fabulous food and accommodation then the Adriana Beach Hotel is perfect! If you want to be near the noise and bustle of Albufeira then probably best to look elsewhere.

The location is amazing if you want some peace and quiet ......lovely spacious lawns with plenty of sunbeds. Two swimming pools - and a private stairway down to the beach ....again with plenty of sun-loungers (and no need for the morning rush to reserve a space!)
It is possible to walk the length of the beach to Villamoura in about a 40 minute stroll or the opposite direction towards Albufeira town. Wonderful views on a breath-taking beach - what more could you ask for on a holiday. The sea was warm and inviting and the constant breeze meant you could sunbathe without the oppressive heat found in other holiday resorts.
The steps down to the beach have been well documented and photographed - but they are stable and should not be a problem unless you are elderly or have walking difficulties. I am in my 50's and managed them without any difficulty.

The food in this hotel was fabulous. We chose to eat in the Grill whenever possible (but you do have to book beforehand) It was very similar to eating in Bem Brasil, but without the hefty price tag...... several meats served on long skewers and carved at your table by friendly staff. A great night out! The other restaurant was also good quality- plenty of choice of meats, fish/seafood and a good selection of deserts. I particularly enjoyed the champagne breakfasts.... a nice indulgent touch.

The rooms are fabulous - we were particularly lucky as we were upgraded to a suite with our own fully fitted kitchen, lounge and TWO bathrooms - we felt quite spoilt. From talking to other guests, it seems most of the rooms were quiet and comfortable. Although there were the usual gripes about the lack of English TV, but you don't really want to watch TV on holiday do you??

The location is a bit remote ...and if you wanted to travel outside in the evening - you would need to book a taxi at reception as there was nowhere within walking distance. In saying that, it was only €13 to the 'strip' and €15 to the Old Town, so not too bad! This is what we chose to do as the evening entertainment (as in the case of most All Inc hotels) was a bit dull. In saying that, the Entertainment Staff worked tirelessly and always managed to get everyone up dancing.

We travelled in September and were blessed with fabulous sunshine every day- although in the evenings, a jacket or cardigan is definitely needed.

All in all, a fabulous hotel - and one where we intend to visit again - next time for longer!!

Excellent hotel set in beautiful grounds. The beach is great although you have to go down 91 steps to it, (and then up again at the end of the day ) Sports facilities are good but hotel could do with more equipment , four hour wait for tennis rackets etc. Shuttle bus to Albufeira is an excellent service and well worth the trip .Apart from the Gill , restaurants are buffet style . Big problem in August is the French ,even local tour guides commented on it. 80% of hotel taken over by the French who don't believe in queuing, using tongs to handle food or control their naughty ,noisy kids .One table of ten French kids were actually having a food fight at their table while their parents laughed. We chose to eat out..

Room tip: Spasmodic WiFi only available in reception block . Blocks E F K are situated towards centre of complex

This was our first trip to Portugal and we were not disappointed. The complex is stunningly beautiful and so green. We had chosen a superior room and well worth the extra money. The food is very varied and the staff so friendly. Particularly impressed with the Animation team as they provide a large number of activities which we joined in with and had never tried before, The Aqua gym and Zumba were really good. It was nice to have a team that was that bit older and obviously very talented.
Reception staff were very helpful as we had a nightmare with the transfers and they sorted it for us. I would ask that a welcome pack be made available as we did miss out on a few things . The place and facilities are so clean and being so close to the beach was great even though there are 90 steps to the beach it was all part of the holiday. The only downside for us was the location as there wasn't anything around such as shops n bars for us to walk to but we did take advantage of the free bus shuttle. All in all a good holiday and i would recommend this hotel.

Rooms small and very basic, balcony tiny and full with two people on it. Restaurant like a free for all every mealtime and very often the cold left overs from breakfast at snack time. All inclusive drinks tasted watered down and served in well used small plastic beakers. The saving grace was by chance we found the second pool on the very large complex which was much quieter without pool aerobics etc. going on. With children probably ok without stay away.

Room tip: choose a room in the M - Z section of the complex

This was our 2nd visit in 2 years, and we are already looking at booking twice next year.
Even though the hotel was full you wouldn't have noticed, there was always plenty of room, and sunbeds.
From the moment we arrived we were made welcome, the staff, the service, the Gardens and the Beach are all AMAZING.
Although the main restaurant wasn't our favourite, apart from the lunchtime pizza, the Grill and especially the Aquarius were superb, the staff in all areas are friendly and more than willing to help, Helder in the Aquarius and his Magic tricks have to be seen to be believed.
This resort has so much to offer, yes people complain about the rooms, but we don't go away to stay in our room and watch TV, they moan about the steps down to the beach, they moan about "foreigners", don't forget, unless you are Portuguese you are the foreigner.
All in all this is THE BEST VALUE FOR MONEY ALL INCLUSIVE you will ever find.

Thanks Mar, to you and all your staff for a brilliant 10 days, see you next year.
