We spent a week at the guarana on an all inclusive basis. The hotel is amazingly clean and the staff can't do enough for you. Our room was lovely and was cleaned really well every day. The food was good and in all the restaurants there was an amazing variety. There was also a good amount of choice with the drinks. The hotel is only a short walk from the beach.

For us the hotel was let down by a few things. The beds are incredibly uncomfortable, as are the sunbeds. Despite the notices people do reserve sunbeds and no action is taken. The ambience in the main restaurant and grill can only be desrcibed as frantic. We tried eating late but there were still loads of young kids screaming and running around.

These things said we had a great week and would recommend the hotel for families.

I have just returned from this hotel and I must say from the moment you arrive you are made to feel very welcome. I was travelling via a Thomson Platinum package and on entrance the hotel was very clean and the porter was there and ready to take your bags.

We went to reception where we were greeted by an English speaking member of staff and he went through all the details with us.

The safe was free of charge along with a fridge in the room. The hotel also insures the contents of the safe up to a certain amount. The lifts are quick and efficient; I was on the first floor in room 102 with views to the tennis courts and the pool (only 15 like this) which is normally an extra charge, however because of my title I was given an upgrade for free. The rooms were very clean, and laid out like most hotels.

The safe is big enough for a laptop and should you bring an ethernet cable the internet is totally free in your room. Wi-Fi in the reception is charged. Cables can be given with a deposit.

I would recommend the room upgrade as it makes your holiday more pleasurable even if you think “It’s only a place to sleep” because we all like luxury :). There are three pools, one large one and the rest for children I think the pool vodka and punch slushes are excellent and I recommend you make the most of these.

The nightclub in the hotel is also a good extra and where normal all inclusive closes for drinks at 12am, this allows you to carry on until 1.30pm, should you wish. Towels are available for a 10euro deposit from reception and you can swap them around the pool.

The food is the same as all inclusive and to be honest by the end you will want to go out to a restaurant which I recommend. But it is good quality and piping hot. I would say definitely go to the Asian restaurant (pre book the night before).

The entertainment I think was good but I never watched it as over the years, travelling all over there is only so many tribute acts one can handle. The cleaners, pool staff, restaurant, etc, are all helpful and polite.

At our welcome meeting the director for each department throughout the hotel was present which is not something you normally get, the manager and his assistant were present and the manager spoke about the hotel and introduced the different directors. He also made it clear that should you have any issue tell them there and then, and not to wait to the last day as there is nothing they can do then, which is totally true.

The Thomson rep Carla has only been there 8 weeks at that resort but is very clued up and been on all the trips. I recommend the adult only cruise costing 53 euros per person with transfers included; you get off the boat onto the speed boats and go in the caves and also go to a secluded beach and enjoy a BBQ. They do do this same trip for families.

Overall I highly recommend this hotel to families especially and anyone that is thinking of going, just book it. You may wish to consider renting a car if you want good shops, like Armani and such like as the ones around there are just the lilo type; however it is a small town so you can’t expect to see designer shops.

However 25mins away is Vilamoura which is where the rich and famous hang out and one can expect to find the more high class shops. This is around 14euros in a taxi. There is also Albufeira in the opposite direction which is around 15mins and offers some good shops and eating restaurants. You can however use the buses for around 3 Euros but that’s the last thing I wanted when on holiday. The choice is yours.

Room Tip: Room 102 with views to the tennis court and the pool, only three on each floor have this and 5 floor...

We spent a week in June in this hotel, it was brilliant. We will definitely go back. Hotel is very clean. Rooms are specious and they have a balcony with a table. Staff are very friendly and approachable. They moved us to a pool view room on third day with no fuss. There are 3 restaurants on site and food is great. it is only 10 min walk to the beach. Overall it is perfect!!!!

Room Tip: Take your own shampoo and body gel, the hotel ones are satchet and not that great.

nice hotel to pass some holidays with your young childs.
In this summer I noted that the spanish is the language at this hotel.
For a portuguese, I think that. I' m in spain
Good food but not regional food.

the swimming pool is very large for all the people, but sometimes is small... for all hotel clients capacity .

After spending a week in this Riu hotel we were far from disappointed! On arrival we were greeted with a complimentary drink and the option for a member of staff to take our bags to the room! The rooms are spacious, clean and well presented. With choice of 3 restaurants on an evening and 2 through the day there was always plenty of delicious food to eat!! During the day we ate in the smaller pool bar as it was quieter and seemed more relax. Even though the choice of food was smaller there was still ample choice of food! On an evening we ate 3 times in the Asian restaurant, which was outstanding and well worth a visit! The main restaurant on an evening was slightly over crowded on occasions but if hit at the right time it was quieter. The entertainment team work extremely hard and work long days. They did not hassle you to join in anything you were not interested in. The shows we saw were very energetic and you could see how hard the team had worked to make sure everything ran smoothly. Bar service was always quick and the bar staff were always friendly!! The pool and the pool area were always clean and tidy. Overall the holiday was very relaxing and enjoyable. Would recomend this hotel and resort to others.
