Our first visit to Croatia and Villa Ane certainly did not disappoint. Toni and Melanie could not have been more welcoming and are justifiably proud of the work they have put in to make this house perfect for a great holiday (be prepared for a very comprehensive tour of the property when you arrive!). The rooms are all very spacious and nicely decorated with rustic pieces, in keeping with the age of the building - it was spotlessly clean too. The highlight of the place though has to be the garden; there are two attractive terraces for eating out, a swinging seat, large grassy areas with plenty of seating and things to keep the children entertained (trampoline, swings, giant golf). The outdoor shower was a favourite spot after a hot day on the beach - but be prepared for cold water!! Despite it being surrounded by other properties it is a private and peaceful spot. The nearest beaches are rocky and tricky to get to but well worth the effort as they were generally quiet, even at the end of July, with crystal clear water (take your snorkel stuff and aqua shoes), We visited several Istrian towns and especially loved Rovinj, Labin and Rabac but around most corners there is a great view - the Croatian people we encountered were friendly and helpful, especially if you try out a few words of Croatian (every "Molim" we got after our "Hvala" was a triumph!). Two weeks was just too short but we hope to return one day.
