“Very good hotel for families with kids”
Reviewed 12 July 2012

We enjoyed our 5 nights stay at the Mitsis Hotel in Roda - except for the dimensions of the room which was extremely small (consider that we had 2 extra-beds in the room) - the hotel was very good.
The food was of good quality (we had all inclusive) and the beach was very nice - sandy with clean water. We also enjoyed the free water paddle - children were so happy!!
Another plus for us was the presence of Romanian speaking staff - in the mini-club, animation team as well as in the Spa - and this was a very pleasant surprise!
I am also reccommending the Spa of the hotel - I enjoyed a great chocolate massage!!

Stayed here for 10 night with husband and 2 children. The hotel is very large and very well kept and the staff are very friendly (well most of them).
The pools are great but the main pools are very deep for children but have two shallow pools for the little ones, we only stayed around the main pool with the slides which the kids loved. They were allowed to use their inflatables down the slide to which added that extra bit of fun for them. My kids made lots of friends here .Pools are salt water and does take a bit of getting used 2 and my children developed rashed on their skin which not sure if was caused by pool or the inflatables or both!!! However never stopped them having fun and stayed in the pool for hours. Trying to get a sunbed was a joke. If you are not up before 7am to claim a sunbed your unlikely to get one even though there are signs up to stay you are not allowed to reserve sunbeds.
The beach is nice and again a nightmare to get sunbeds but is a nice change from pool if you can get a sunbed. Water is not very deep for quite abit out which is great for the kids and plenty of fish swimming about which my kids spent hours trying to catch. There is also pedal boats and canoes you can use which are great.
There is a life guard that goes between the beach and the pool but mostly stays at the beach!
The rooms are small but very clean and sheets and towels changed everyday and the fridge is filled up every second day.
Air-con in the rooms only work if you close the glass patio doors. The rest of the hotel is air-conditioned all day which was much needed in the 40 plus degree weather we experienced in July.
The food, well this is what was very disappointing for us. It was the same everyday!! although most of the food was very nice we did eat out in Roda a few night as just couldnt bear to face the same food everyday! Also the restaurant was mayhem at night, it was so busy you had to queue to get your food however many didnt and would just push in. Food was mostly catered for the French as there was alot of French there at this time. You have to wait to be seated at the restaurant and shown to a table and waiters brought your drinks to you.
Kids clubs were great, can not fault them, the staff were very nice and my children had a ball in the clubs. They did lots of drawing, playing games, water fights and making cookies.
Entertainment was a joke, went a few time to the amphithreatre which is in good need of an upgrade. Many birds have nests on the roof so alot of bird dropping on the chairs. Was not nice to sit in and if definetly not up to 5 star standards, wouldnt even expect this in a 3 star hotel!!!
Kids disco at 9pm mostly for very young children 5 years or younger, then bingo at 9.45pm and then the show at 10pm. This hotel seems to think that insinuating sex in their shows ( which wasnt mild in anyway) is family entertainment! disgusting!!!!
The restaurants at the beach we never went to so cannot comment on as i was not prepared to stand in a queue at 6.30am to book these.
Transferes to the hotel took 1hr 30min on a very narrow and steep road, and going home took 2 hours which was horrendous in the 40 degree weather, the bus had aircon but was not great, my son was sick on the bus and so where a few others, i have to say these were the worst tranferes i have ever experienced!!!
However the staff do work hard and long hours and there is plenty going on through out the day such as aerobics next to the pool or in the sea, table tennis, darts, family quiz, water polo etc There are also arcade games, pool tables and internet access and a play park.
The shop in the hotel and on the beach are very expensive and would recommend a 15
min walk into Roda to the shops there which are more than half the price! Roda is a small place and not much going on there but nice for a walk along to to have a look!
I did visit the spa and got a massage which was very nice, the staff are very friendly there but the indoor spa pool is freezing and only managed a couple of minutes in it!
I myself would not recommend this hotel to anyone unless you like to get up early and sunbathe all day, queue for meals and holiday next to very rude people and like very cheesy entertainment, very disappointed in it and will not be going back to this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room if you have young children as there is a lot off noise at night and some apartm...

Excellent hotel overall, food and staff first class themed restaurants really good especially the chinese, lots of quiet pools in the grounds and fairly quiet beach too, entertainment at night a bit basic but enjoyable, I would definitely go back to this hotel in the future

This hotel has to be the best on the island. Everything was 5 star in our oppinion. Staff were very kind & polite, grounds were very tidy, food was excellent. Will write more later on this fab hotel. p.s. Any probs with anything, talk to Minas {hotel manager}. Minas is a great manager, very polite and has alot of concideration & patients for guest and their requests. Well done Minas and all the staff at Mitsis Roda Beach Hotel.

This was my husband and my 2nd stay here, we stayed last year for two weeks from the 2nd June, returned this year with our children and grandchildren on 22nd June.We booked a mini bus rather than using the transfer buses as last year it took 2 and a half hours to reach the resort, this time it only took 50 minutes, it cost around £220 return, i would recommend this for anyone who doesnot like lots of stop offs. We booked two family rooms, we had rooms 813 and 814 with suberb views of the resort and sea.The rooms are spotless, modern and quite large, with a fridge which are stocked with a couple of waters, soft drinks and beers and are re- stocked every two days.there is a safe in the room which is 25 euro a week or 40 euro for the fortnight which is non refundable, it is rather steep, though i would recommend for any valuables. We would highly recommend this hotel for all ages as there is a busy family pool with games, music etc or plenty of quieter pools you can use all around the complex. You can play tennis or,table tennis for a returnable deposit for the equipment, there is a football court which can be used any time which our young family enjoyed, they also loved the pools with slides, towels can be hired for 20euro deposit which is great as you can change them any time, your deposit is refunded at the end of your holiday, i would recommend this.
There were plenty of snacks on offer throughout the day for example fresh bread buns, salad cheese, ham etc to make your own sandwiches, popcorn, icecream, pizza and pastries at the beach bar or if you fancied a more filling meal the main restaurant has plenty of choice with lovely freshly made breads, soups, salads, pastas and much more, the young ones loved the freshly made pancakes which were on offer at all meal times. The beach front restaurants are a lovely change in a beautiful scenic setting, we ate at the chinese 3 times, highly recommended!!! we also ate at the italians, lovely pizza!! the greek was nice but you can eat the same meals in the main restaurant, the settings make it a lovely change though. I would advise anyone to take a good mosquito repellent as there are lots about at these restaurants and at the open air entertainment.
The evening entertainment was ok the staff work really hard to try and put on different shows which is difficult for them as they have many different nationalities, they are lovely hard working people.
My husband, daughter and i all had lovely therapeutic massages from Julia and Eniko, two lovely girls and great at there jobs!!!
Roda has a small town 15 minutes walk along the beach, you can hire boats for lovely days out at reasonable prices. You can book all trips there too which are cheaper than the hotel reps. There are some good bars with different entertainment each night, eg, quizzes, name that tune and tribute bands, which was nice for a change of scenery.
Overall we had a great family holiday and would highly recommend!!!!

Room Tip: All rooms are lovely, if your travelling with children i would recommend a family room with a partit...
