“Nothing but the best”
Reviewed 27 January 2012

We recently stayed 3 nights at Le Meridien Koh Samui and we didn't want to leave. It is amazing from the moment you arrive and are greeted by the friendly security guys at the front gate. The hotel rooms are very big with balconies, bedrooms, vanity area and separate outdoor bathroom with rain shower and a huge bath. The hotel grounds are very lush and once you make it through to the pool you realise you probably won't be leaving the hotel for you stay as it's just so beautiful. Lots of poolside beds to lay on with bar service and nice food menu. There are pool villas but we had a veranda room which we were completely happy with. The pontoon speaks for itself. It's lovely to go out and jump off the end and we will be keen to come back when the hotel puts the bar out there for sunset drinks and dinners. Amazing sunsets from the pontoon. There is a lantern ceremony at the front desk area which is really lovely and worth going up to watch and participate in. There are also complimentary activities like yoga for the guests to do. The staff are fabulous and full praise goes to the front security guys who were so happy and friendly every time we saw them. Loved it! The online photos are exactly as the resort is.

Room Tip: We picked the veranda room and enjoyed the beautiful resort pool with bar service instead of the pri...

Dear kmh26,

It is great to learn that you enjoyed your stay and that you had the chance to participate in some of the activies available at the resort. Our 224-meter floating pier is certainly a unique feature for really getting out in the water or lazing around under the sun.

Thank you for your recognition of our security and bellboys out in front of the hotel. It is good to know that they are providing a friendly welcome every time guests return home!

Sincerely,
Tina

Spent 4 nights here and originally given an SPG room with a plunge pool . The room was not for me - I agree with oberau v - they are dark, what use was the plunge pool stuck in the middle of the rooms as it was ,and there is no outside area in which to sit . After seeing the room we asked to be moved and were offered another , cheaper room with a large balcony and day bed that was much better . Ok the balcony only overlooked the roof tops in the main and the tops of the trees however it was much lighter room and for a relax in between the day and evening exertions it was ideal. Staff at hotel were very helpful and friendly but if you ring the telephone urgent call line when something like the latern ceremony is on you get no response as everyone is busy and some days our room clean was in the late afternoon /early evening just as we returned from the pool and wanted to get ready to go out . Occupancy was not full so it may get worse in height of season. The two for one cocktail details at two points in the hotel were never accurately shown , it was a real hit and miss , and we heard others also complaining that the notices were out of date .
Pool area was nice , good sunbeds but you have to pay for water or bring it from your room . As someone else said there is little beach at the front of the hotel. When the tide is out take a walk to the little massage place to left of entrance - great staff and v v cheap.
Food in hotel good but as would expect more expensive that local restaurants
The hotel has lots and lots of steps - not sure how any one with any mobility issue gets around .
Finally the BEDS they are fantastic for this level of hotel and in Thailand where often the beds can be hard they were exceptional .

Room Tip: Unlesss you really want an indoor sitting area and a plunge pool go for a balcony room or one of the...

Dear BellaMBJ,

We regret that you did not enjoy the Plunge Pool Suite although it is good to know that you were moved to a preferred room type and the Terrace Suite certainly does offer more space for fresh air and relaxing. Each of our suite types offer different highlights so it really depends on what is most important to the guest. Other than the Villas, I would suggest a Pool Access Suite in the future as these rooms have a nice terrace over semi-private pools and allows you to dip right in! Perhaps a cross between the plunge pool and terrace options experienced.

As for the 2 for 1 cocktail hours, we have 2 different ones by the Plunge Bar and Latitude 9 and will certainly re-check if there are any collaterals with incorrect information. Please accept our apology for any confusion caused. For an accessible option for disabled guests, we actually do have another entrance without stairs but the main one does by-pass the lobby for security purposes.

Lastly in sync to your review, we are happy to learn that your experience in our bed was exceptional as once of the most important aspects of a guest stay is a good nights rest!

Sincerely,
Tina

Loved our 6 nights at Le Meridien Koh Samui! The SPG room we had facing the lawn was great, with covered lanai, plunge pool and outdoor shower, plus the most comfortable bed yet on our trip. Actually, probably the most comfortable in any note we ever stayed in. We absolutely disagree with the comments related to lack of English or lack of top class service. Staff is extremely friendly, attentive and speaks good English. We always felt extremely welcomed. The hotel has a lot very nice touches, especially the daily Chinese lantern lighting ceremony! Food was amazing, tours provided extensive and quality of the experience overall outstanding. The reception, esp. KayKay helped us a lot with our reservations for the remainder of our trip. It is also important to note that the hotel is located on its on beach, with breathtaking views, beautiful pool and near Lamai beach, much less crowded and loud that Chaweng. Highly recommended! The only negative are the Spa prices - you can get a superb quality massage next door for fraction of the price (left to the exit to the beach).

Dear suziowczarek,

It is great to learn that you had an overall postive experience at both our resort and on Koh Samui island in general.

Our "Celebration of the Day" ritual in the evening is certainly a highlight for many and it is good to know that you were able to participate as it is surely not to be missed! Your kind recognition of KK is also much appreciated and offers encouragement for all our associates to deliver exceptional service.

Please do come for a return visit and we will endeavor to make the experience even more outstanding!

Sincerely,
Tina

we stayed in this hotel in Jan 2012 for 6 nights. The premises are brand new, but they are quite small compared to other spg resorts.
Staff is kind and smiley, as to be expected in this part of the world.
The beach is tiny, just a strip of stoney sand, without any chairs or umbrellas. The pool is nice with a nice view over the sea.
One of the minus points is the room, which, despite being nicely furnished, is terribly dark so that it is necessary to switch on the lights even during daytime. The bed is definitely not to be considered a 5 star one. Another part of the room that makes you scratch your head is the nice jacuzzi pool between the bedroom and the bathroom ; excellent idea, too bad the water is not heated, and who wants to lounge in cold water?

The items offered at the buffet breakfast are limited compared to the hotel presumed standard and to the fantastic offer of fresh fruits that Thailand offers. Really several items missing from the buffet. Considering this is a resort where people indulge in resting activities, including food, enhancing the buffet should be a priority of Ms.Tina, the nice and caring general manager.

Urgent calls (there is a dedicated button on the phone) remained totally unanswered !!?? So if one has an emergency in the room what is he supposed to do ?

We enjoyed the lantern show at 19.19, really neatly organized.
The food is absolutely decent at the restaurant, even if the staff needs some fine-tuning. But we are talking of fine-tuning, means standard is quite good.

We enjoyed the live music in the evening. The two gutarist are playing professionally and created a nice atmosphere. Suggestion : why not play some local songs as well ?
And cocktails were well prepared and promptly served.

As a Platinum member of SPG program we were treated very well and offered nice and enjoyable amenities.

We would suggest this property to couples in search of romance and tranquility.
Not for beachgoers or partypeople.

Dear Oberau v,

While it is nice to learn that you enjoyed various aspects of your stay, we also appreciate the candid feedback in areas that can be improved and look upon your suggestions as opportuntities to service guests better.

The telephone issue as a priority will be promptly addressed. As for breakfast items or fruits in particular, a minimum of 6 different fruit selections are offered each morning with a rotating menu. We would love to learn more about your preferences or recommendations and will certainly consider introducing them to the selection.

I am surprised to learn however that you did not enjoy your bed which is most often praised with 300 threadcount sheets and goosedown pillows. We are also flexible to make changes to the bed set-up in order to suit your needs for the stay and regret that this was not discussed while you were here in order to ensure a most comfortable rest. Please accept our apology for any discomfort experienced. It is correct though that the plunge pool in room is not heated as most hotels on the island tend to offer a refreshing dip in this tropical climate.

The resort offers 6 different room types with a uniquely different feature in each and hopefully, we can find one that you will be more comfortable in in the future. I will be happy to personally assist should your travels bring you back to Koh Samui on a future visit.

Sincerely,
Tina

Just opened as Le Meridien when we tjecked in. They were redoing the place to get it up to Meridien standards. We thought it was beautiful already! The dock at the beach is absolutely amazing, laying there in the sun on a fatboy - wow!
Pool is wonderful, beds are good, drinks are fab!
Activities are good, especially Muay Thai.
Staff are so friendly, we felt like kings and queens!
Only thing I wound change, is breakfast. Not as good as Meridien in Chiang Rai. Still above average.

Dear Ktonder,

We are glad to hear that you were happy with your stay all around and found activities like Muay Thai good for keeping busy and fit!

Unfortunately, there was room for improvement at breakfast. If there is anything in particular that you would like to see added, please do let us know. Hence, when you return to stay with us once again, we will be sure to have it added or improved!
