We visited to go turtle watching. The visitor center for finding a local tour guide for the turtle watching is less than 3 minutes walking distance away. Our first night, during dinner we were joined by about 40 hatchlings and we were all delighted to have a close encounter with the precious babies. We could collected them and put them in a makeshift holding bay for the guides to collect. The first night, on the walk we found 6 mature leatherbacks at various stages of the laying process. The second night we found about 20. We also did a 2 tours at the visitor center. The morning tour was for the feeding of rescued turtles that are being tended to for release later on. The second tour in the afternoon was a chocolate tour which was complete with a cup of Cocoa Tea and a freshly made bar of chocolate. The hotel staff also arranged a bird watching tour for us and we were lucky to see many many birds including the piping guan (pawi) and beautiful toucans.
The food was delicious (a la carte means we waited a bit) and the rooms were comfortable and ours had a large veranda with insanely comfortable Adirondack chairs. The bathrooms need updating but they were still fully functional.
All in all, very good experience. We will return!More
