I researched this hotel and looked at everyones photos for months, planning and dreaming like everyone who uses TA, we booked through Virgin holidays and arrived at Antigua airport to be greeted by O'Neal the resort manager- nice touch we thought! we were then told that we would be going to Coconut beach hotel as they had overbooked( along with another couple who arrived with us) and we would be picked up at 11 am. We were furious and I have to say felt dreadfully let down by both Cocobay and Virgin, O'neal offered his apologies and said we would be put in a comparable hotel- WRONG!! coconut hotel is by no means comparable. I had dreamt of my first night in paradise and opening the curtains in the morning to the most wonderful view and this was taken from me. we were devasted.
O'Neal did offer us a meal on the beach which I have to say was lovely and would say to everyone to do this we felt very special, I was also given a lovely massage and we were given air conditioning ( although anyone who has to pay, try a night without it as we didn't use it at night) - these little extras were appreciated but our first inital shine was taken from us.

We eventually arrived at Cocobay and WOW what a view, this is what I had dreamt about the view is simply stunning and when we were taken to our room I simply burst into tears our room was heavenly.

Cocobay is a beautiful resort, beautiful little cottages, staff are wonderful and really do help make your holiday.
The evening meal is a la carte, this is wonderful and we never had the same meal twice.
We had the most wonderful time in Cocobay and will def be one of the many returnees, but please Cocobay don't overbook and spoil peoples well earned and paid for holidays, on leaving we spoke to another couple who had just arrived and they too had been overbooked although they were put in a far better hotel than Coconut beach.

so I guess my review is Cocobay is just heavenly and the photographs somehow cant show you how beautiful the hotel and grounds are, please book and I hope you are not as unfortunate as us, we are looking to go in November again so that must speak volumnes.

Room Tip: we had room 34 a room to die for!

My boyfriend and I wanted a relaxing beach vacation this winter and that's exactly what we got! The accommodations were great--comfy bed, large room, beautiful view. Sure, there's no TV in your room and it seems a bit quiet, but that's the point! The all-inclusive service was very good. We really enjoyed sipping drinks poolside or on the beach. The food for all meals was very good, and filling. Not just the same thing every night, either. The service was just excellent, and all the employees made us feel very at home. While the place feels a bit far off the path in Antigua (something we definitely enjoyed), you can easily get around and the front desk will help you in any way to arrange your perfect vacation. All the complaints about no A/C definitely must not be for February when the weather is just perfect. Could not recommend this place more!!!

We just got back from our trip to Cocobay.

The good:
Staff are amazing and go out of their way to help you. The food is great for an all inclusive and while we ate a ton the food was healthy so we didn't feel as bad about eating all the time. The drinks are strong and the staff will literally make any drink you ask for. We also found that when laying down by the beach the staff would frequently come around to see if we needed drinks. The pools were both amazing and there were always places available at both pools and on the beach. The island itself is of course amazing -it would rain about every day but only for 10 mins or so during the day and night, the water was warm and crystal clear, and we never felt unsafe or in any way threatened while on the island. We would recommend doing the Creole Lobster Cruise - it is a small operation run by a local guy and was one of the highlights of our trip.

The bad:
Our last night in the resort while packing there was a cockroach in our suitcase. Not sure if this was brought back to the room by us during our time at the island or if it was from the resort. We realized that we were on a tropical island and the few mosquitos/sand flies that we encountered didn't bother us but there was just something about potentially bringing a cockroach back to our home in the states that made us a bit leery. Having said all of that it was by no means a big deal and the staff immediately came and sprayed and assured us that this was not a typical issue. We tended to believe them and as we said it was the only roach we saw on the trip, but we also thought that it should be noted.

I will also say that if you are looking for an exciting adventure packed trip this would probably not be for you. We have done those sorts of trips in the past and wanted something different this time around. This is a place for laying by the beach, meeting interesting people at the bar, going to bed early, eating great food, and waking up with no clue what time it is.

All in all, both my fiancee and I have stressful careers back home. This was a place to get away from everything and literally just relax. If you are in the same boat I cannot think of a better place to go and we have been to quite a few similar places. All trips will have issues but I can say that the staff at Cocobay will go above and beyond to try to make these issues as minor as possible. We have a wedding to be planned and there is no doubt that Cocobay will be in contention for hosting it - I can't think of a stronger endorsement.

Room Tip: Get AC if possible

Cocobay was amazing. The environment is incredible with perfect weather, beautiful water, and a great location on a peninsula overlooking the beach and the bay. The staff is exceptional. O'Neal, the resort mananger is friendly, sociable, and welcoming like the rest of his staff. Vincia is great! She works at the poolside bar. If you hit the pool in the morning, there is a good chance you will find fresh (FRESH!) coconuts waiting to be opened for you to drink out of. Another fine point is the food. It's good. REALLY good. The menus for dinner were varied and delicious. The buffet for breakfast and lunch were good too. Make sure to get Sonia to cook you an omlet. We stayed at Oleander, the cottage delightfully situated on the tip of the peninsula right above the water. Fantastic! It was hard to decided where to spend most of the day...in bed with a gorgeous view of the water and the bay or the beach...with the same! Once on the beach you can snorkel, kayak, or sail. Robert does the watersports on the beach and will check you out on the Hobiecat. I recommend it. The sailing is fantastic with the Antiguan breeze. The only caution I would give is be wary of the folks on the beach offering you tours and trips. etc. Everything they offer you can book through Cocobay front desk. Also, go through the hotel "binder" in your room/cottage when you get there as there's lots of good info in it about the island. The magazine in your accomodations also has lots of good stuff in it. So, your first night there, grab a couple drinks from the bar, head to your room, relax, enjoy the breeze, and peruse the magazine and the binder for some good info. To sum up: accomodations, great! Food, great! Staff great! O'Neal great! And get to the pool early for a coconut!

Room Tip: Oleander has the most privacy, the best view, and its own plunge pool. The pool is cool in March wh...
