Arrived at the kantary bay 20th nov 2011 for 56 nights . First time at this hotel and we definitely made the right choice choosing a high floor as reccomended in other reviews . We got a room on the side overlooking the sea and the road which is nice and quiet. The staff are the most helpful of any hotel we have been in especially Mr Boonq song and his staff on the front desk . We had a friend who had a fall in Phuket and the girls on the front desk made numerous phone calls to try and find which hospital she was in and then the hotel sent one of their staff with a huge bunch of flowers and fruit and transport to take us to the hospital. No matter what the problem Mr Boonsong and his girls sort it out. We can recommend Uncle Nans restraunt, the Leam Panwa and the clockhouse as they serve excellent food at reasonable prices. You can make Thailand as cheap or as expensive as you like and still enjoy it? We have 2weeks left so will update later on

Room Tip: Choose a high room facing either the pool and sea

Apartment was spacious and well-equipped (including washing machine!), with a beautiful, beautiful view. We didn't really have time for swimming-- the pool looked fine, but the beach would have been a bit of walk to other hotel (although there is a frequent shuttle). Service was good, with a nice breakfast spread. Immediate access to some nice small restaurants, but not much nightlife - a place for people who like a quiet time.

Room Tip: ask for high up and a view of the sea - the islands are beautiful

We spent Christmas at Kantary Bay. Our room was in the main block with a huge balcony overlooking the Andaman sea, well equipped with everything you need including a washing machine (rm 401a). In our experience the hotel was well maintained and kept immaculately clean, so don't listen to anyone who says otherwise. Also we found all the staff to be extremely friendly and cooperative at all times (in particular the receptionists).
If you drink spirits, take some duty free with you as they are expensive in the bars and restaurants. There are plenty of good quality restaurants; in particular we enjoyed Nan's Italian, the Indian, Sawadee and Sea Breeze. Also, snacks are available at the hotel Clockhouse bar and it is usually nice and quiet there. A meal will cost you around £10 ahead (without alcohol). It is best to only take a small amount of Thai baht (£20) as you will get a better rate at the exchange booth on the corner (current rate 46,60 THB to £1). We would recommend the Tailor next to Russell's bar, who also owns the Indian restaurant and the massage parlour and nail bar next-door at the end of this street were very good. People with mobility problems should be aware that there are a lot of steps at this resort. We personally preferred this hotel to that of Cape Panwa and found the staff to be more friendly and helpful at Kantary. The Christmas eve gala was held at Cape Panwa, which we found to be a bit of a let down due to the food being cold. My husband who is a chef spoke to the management suggesting ways of overcoming this problem in the future, which they thanked him for and gave us vouchers for a free meal at Uncle Nan's as a gesture of goodwill. I should point out that this was not the fault of Kantary Bay, but Cape Panwa's catering team. We would like to thank the management for listening. This is the friendliest hotel we have ever stayed at and should be rated a 4*. Thanks to all the staff for making our Christmas extra special this year.

Room Tip: One-bedroom appartments are worth the extra money, especially the main block from floors 3-5.

My wife and me stayed recently at the Bay for 3 weeks and overall we had a relaxing holiday.
The rooms are a bit outdated but cozy and we had a great balcony with sea view.
The one bed room apartment is not that big but spacious enough and good equipped (washing machine, microwave, DVD player).
The staff performance was mixed with some very friendly and helpful staff but also some not helpful at all (in the morning the staff is smoking at the pool what leaves a strange impression). The location is very good right at the sea (no beach though) and not far from the city.

having just spent 2 weeks at kantary bay i can only say it was simply one of the best holidays we have had and this was mostly down to the wonderfull staff who are always cheerfull and helpfull, location is perfect, quite but still plenty to see and do and if you wont it more lively it is only a short bus trip away lots of choice for eating added bonus of the beach at cape panwa people who complain about this hotel must get their holidays muddled and confuse it with somewhere with a simila name as it is certainly not this hotel if you wont a good holiday in an excellent hotel and good food and good company book kantary i am again next year
