I stayed in this hotel in November 2010. The hotel has a very nice garden and swimming pool. The atmosphere is totally different than "usual" Mercure hotel. The staff is very friendly and the food quite nice. My only advice: if you are going there during the raining season, maybe it is better to avoid the villas as due to the proximity of the garden, the humidity is going through the villa walls/door and quite often you end up with "wet" bed linen. Because of it, I ended up sick at the end of my holiday. Please note that the private swimming pool are not heated (at least when I was there) so water can be very cold. Other than that, the villas are quite nice. My friends had deluxe rooms and there were just huge.

Room Tip: Avoid villas during the raining season

We stayed in a villa with pool for 7 nights. Such a relaxing week!!
The staff are very friendly and helpful. The villa was gorgeous and very clean. The villa's pool was a lovely get away although it would have been good to have a scoop to help clear the leaves out! Some staff use a path behind some villas so be careful sunbathing!!!!
The restaurant and breakfast were lovely.....and what a view!!!
The pool is fantastic....cocktails at 5pm in happy hour are a must. The beach is great but had the red flag up some days for unknown reasons.
My wife did a cookery course and really enjoyed it.
The staff will take you to the 7-11 for supplies in the gold buggy!
Lovely restaurants nearby too.
Thoroughly enjoyable.

We stayed at the Mercure in late September and felt there were a number of pros and cons to staying here
Pros
Great location looking over the Bay having breakfast or any meal there was just beautiful.
The pool was excellent catering from youngsters to adults
Happy hour was great ! the staff could not be faulted being just so friendly and helpful.
The variety of the breakfast was very good and lots of local places to go outside of the resort for a bit of variety
The gardens around the resort were well laid out and maintained.
Lastly they upgraded our room to a pool villa at no charge !!
Cons
The only means of cooling yourself at night time was to use the air conditioner which was both noisy, enviromentally unfriendly and unnecessary when all that was needed was a ceiling fan or an ability to open the windows.
Running the water from the shower took honestly 10 minutes before it warmed up and then was so variable that was almost impossible to control.
There were other minor gripes but when you are staying for a week in a resort room the above really built up to become issues.

We spent 4 nights at this hotel and it was brilliant. The Mercure is by no means cheap. We had a deluxe Villa with private pool and it cost us about 7,000 Baht Per night. The villa itself is done up in Thai architecture and was gorgeous with lots of space. (Roughly100sqm).
It had a plasma TV and mini bar. Complimentary water, tea and coffee.

The bathroom had a wonderful Jacuzzi with a skylight, his and her wash-basins and a shower good for 6 people!! They had a ton of creams and shampoo's, bath gels etc...

The villa also offers complimentary wi-fi

Our Villa had a little sit out by the pool where one could have breakfast or a snack by the garden.

If I could ask the hotel to improve one thing, then it would be tell the hotel to clean the private pool everytime housekeeping came to the villa as leaves etc had blown into the pool.

The staff were extremely friendly and polite and made you feel pampered.

They also had quite affordable massages on the beach.

In the evening everything was lit up and looked absolutely gorgeous.

The main restaurant overlooks the beach and the infinity pool, with Koh Phangan across the water. My only complaint was that the menu was a bit overpriced and this would perhaps explain why the restaurant was mostly empty. This should not be a worry to any visitor as there are a few nice restaurants close by, mainly Harry's Restaurant and Bar and quite a few on Maenam Road to choose from.

The hotel does arrange pick up to and from the Airport at 200 Baht per person.

They also have free shuttle trips to and from Chaweng Beach twice a day which is quite convinient if you havent got your own ride.

All in all a wonderful experience with lots of memories to cherish.
