We had very nice long weekend break at the Corinthia Palace. The room is wonderful and spotless, also the SPA very relaxing. If you are there try the lunch at the Orange Grove which located in the lobby area and really worth it. All staff are friendly and helpful, but need some observations from management, just little things but need to be tackled, like we saw the porter smoking a cigarette upon our arrival to the hotel and we saw him again with another staff smoking by the main door outside the hotel which doesn't look professional at all. The same porter was drinking a beer in the lobby, is that allowed!!!, also certain Orange Grove staff are friendly and others not even smile to you. The management should look into details and then hotel will reach the perfection in terms of staff & service. We will be back to the hotel.

Room Tip: All rooms facing the garden

This was a lovely hotel and we enjoyed our stay there but we should have paid more attention to it's location. Yes, it's in the centre of the island so in one respect it is perfect for visiting all corners, but it's in a very residential area with little else around it, so, if you haven't hired a car, you have little choice but to catch the bus into Valletta or Mdina unless you're into very long walks! As previous reviewers have said, this hotel is more of a resort really, but whilst it's quite self-sufficient in the high season, in April we found that some facilities and restaurants were not available. If we were to return to Malta, we'd probably chose a hotel in Valletta or Sliema where we can step out of the hotel and have a range of choices.

My girlfriend and I managed to get a great deal from Secret Escapes and really enjoyed our 7 night stay. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful finding the best places to visit and eat out. We used the courtesy bus several times to get to Sliema and St Julien's.

Our first night we got in late, and decided to eat in at Rikshaw restaurant, which offered a combination of chinese, malaysian, thai and japanese dishes. Service was a little slow at times, and the dining room lacked any atmosphere, but we were quite happy with the food and selection of wines on offer were better than expected. Serving sizes are more than ample, and we left with full bellies!

Matthew the young man at concierge gave us a lot of great tips on what to see on the island, and how best to get there. He also gave us top restaurant tips, for the local area, as most evenings if we weren't already out, we felt like eating in the area. We ate across the road at Melita's 3 or 4 times, but found out that the restaurant doesn't open early in the week, instead it just opens their cafeteria. So one night we were keen on getting some tasty pasta we had to settle for their simplified menu next door.

The location of the hotel was perfect for us as we didn't want to be staying around all the other tourists on the island in Sliema and St Julien's. Being the the centre, you're a relatively short distance to every part of the island, and a really good connection with buses, and not to forget the free shuttle services.

For the one day (that wasn't windy), we spent by the pool, we were unfortunately sitting near some tree trimming which was a bit disturbing. We did however utilise the pool bar for lunch and drinks which are a bit over priced but tasty options for the lazy.

Breakfast every day was great although service to get coffee was slow on occasions and it seemed that most of the staff don't communicate with each other so at one point we had been asked if we wanted coffee 4 times by different waiters, and still no coffee! Unfortunately because the breakfast was so good I put on 4kg over the week. But that's what relaxing holidays are about!

All in all a great experience and very happy to recommend the Corinthia in St Anton to anyone visiting Malta.

As stated elsewhere, the reception staff notably for us Rita and Martin, as well as the housekeeping staff especially Margaret, could not be faulted for their personal attention to detail and friendliness. Their presence made our holiday very pleasant.
The hotel was very clean yet with a relaxed atmosphere that is often lacking in other 5* hotels.
However, as with many reviewers we did note some things which really let the hotel down. Like the previous reviewer, we too were disappointed with the Corinthia Villa restaurant. We ate there on the first night but we so unimpressed that we chose not to return there again. The meal was a buffet meal, which I was unable to eat (I am vegetarian and there was very little that did not contain meat). I left having eaten only a single bread roll and two small (and I do mean very small) spoons of vegetables, yet we were still charged the full set menu price of around £30. The inattention of the waiters who failed to note that I had left with our daughter only five minutes after arriving may have been a contributing factor to this oversight. My husband stayed to eat the full three courses but found that the quality of the food in the main course was very poor, suggesting that it tasted like it could have been leftovers from the Easter Sunday buffet lunch. We decided from then on to eat out at a restaurant opposite - The Melita, which was reasonably priced with a varied menu.
We did however eat from the room service menu on our last night, which was reasonably priced as well as being very nice (maybe we had had our first meal on the chef's night off).
I must also concur with other reviews about the Spa, which while once again having lovely staff was however let down by the state of the decor which was very poor with peeling paintwork, no doors on the changing rooms, and something in the pool that our daughter managed to cut her feet on three times!
However, we would happily return as we did enjoy our time there but hope that the problems that I and other reviewers have mentioned are dealt with as they do let the side down somewhat.
Finally, the hotel is very well placed for travelling around the island. Previously we stayed in another 5* in St Julian's, which was right in the middle of things but still had to hire a car to get around. The Corinthia Palace is in a much quieter area yet we found it much easier to get to the places that we wanted to go to as the hotel had an excellent free bus service as well as taxis on standby for guests and was also on excellent bus routes.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms 304 and 305 if it is windy, as the air conditioning unit on the roof rattles like crazy. We were moved very quickly and efficiently to another room that overlooked the front of the building and were very happy there.
