Our room had a great view over the pool area. Well equipped home from home. The only negatives were a compulsory Euro 60 levy for services from a team of youngsters which we neither needed nor used. The second negative was that the resort was unable to either iron three shirts or simply allowed me to use an iron to iron myself. Had to travel to the next town. We enjoyed good weather.

Room Tip: Pool view!

We came here on a family holiday, the apartment was advertised as sleeping up to 6 so we assumed there would be four beds and some put me ups in case there were extra kids but in fact there was one double bedroom and some bunk beds. Me and my sister (24 and 21 years old) laughed it off but this could be a little better advertised!

The hotel is around 2 miles out of Torre Del Orso and the land train to the beach only goes in the day so you would be stuck without a car in the evenings, particularly considering we were told the hotel restaurant was fully booked every night. We were also told there are no taxis in the area. It would be worth considering offering a land train into the town in the evening.

This may be standard for Italy, but charging extra to use the pool facilities and charging an extortionate amount to rent a sun bed in the hotel's section on the beach seems a little unfair. Saying this, the pool area is very good and there are plenty of sunbeds available.

Again, this might be a cultural misunderstanding but the loud music and reps trying to get you involved in weird activities mid-afternoon can be a little grating, unfortunately I'm not sure this is a misunderstanding, as the pool area tended to clear of people pretty quickly after this occurred!

You have to try Vesuvio 3 pizzeria around the corner from the hotel as well as the sandwiches freshly made in the nearby shop. I'd also recommend Otranto as a place to visit.

Overall, a nice-ish hotel (clean and safe), fine as a base to explore the area (providing you have a car available) but not a hotel to spend every waking hour of your holiday in.

I have spent 2 months in Araba Fenice. I was amazed by the original and special style of the villagio. Stunning community spaces, elegant restaurants and private rooms reminds us Marocco, but each does in different ways. Italy is wonderful, but the lovely south part, Puglia is specially beautiful. Araba Fenice and its guest are very lucky to have Torres del' Orso's breath-taking beach with the "due sorella:)". Besides all that, Araba's staff always do their best to provide numerous entertaining program! ...and I am still missing their Pizza;).

Upon arrival we found an apartment advertised as sleeping 5, 1 bedroom, was very small and only suitable for two adults and 3 small children at best, we had booked for 4 adults. Cooking facilities consisted of 2 small hotplates nothing else, no oven or microwave. Second surprise was a 40 EURO charge per person for facilities, what facilities? pool, tennis courts, open air "bar" and entertainment !!! Next the private beach for which one must pay 17 EURO per day for the umbrella + 2 sunloungers, if you do not pay for these you cannot use the private beach, we were ejected from the beach on the first day as we did not want them !!!! To swim in the swimming pool one has to buy a cap at 2.5 EUR. With regard to entertainment, it was for children and Italians, the whole hotel is ONLY geared up for Italian families not foreigners, the saving grace being my wife speaks Italian and said the entertaiment was good if you were an Italian national. The entertainment was in an open air theatre and very loud. competing with another hotel and very loud until midnight. In fairness the staff tried to be helpful. On arrival we were told there would be an information meeting that evening in the reception area. We arrived and nobody was there to greet us, we wandered to the entertainment area and were told the so called entertainment was the information meeting but it only consisted of a small show if you could call it that, when questioned the staff said there was no information meeting as we understand it. The hotel restaurant was ok at 20 EUR per head including local wine but with limited menu and one has to book in advance. We were not informed of any of the facilities or surrounding attractions, transport or organised trips. On the plus side the area is beautiful, the beaches great and the sea very clear. The local village is typical and not commercialised. Small supermarkets but beware only one bankomat which is not always working. Lovely helpful local people if you speak Italian. One joy was a pizzeria / restaurant 100 metres from the hotel called Vesuvio 3 which is of the highest class and very reasonable prices which we only found on the last night.
