We had a day to explore the Johannesburg area before embarking on a 14-day safari, and spent most of the day at Lesedi. We enjoyed the cultural experience, as well as the dance performance, and the buffet. The food consisted of a number of dishes, including chicken, beef, pork, and various vegetables, but I was particularly happy to get to try crocodile. I also tried mapone worms in one of the village displays.

We spent one night here after a day of activities. The village is very unique and quite large. Our "huts" were towards the back of the compound, but we were able to find our way easily. The accommodations were much more luxurious than I had anticipated. The main room was very large with tribal art and decorations. The bathroom was huge with a great walk in shower. There is a tv in the room, but there is only one channel available. We had breakfast in the morning, and it was a very nice buffet. Great for one or 2 nights.

We are so glad that we added this to our itinerary. It is a very good experience to learn about South African cultures and the different tribes. They walk you around from small village to small village explaining the different greetings and traditions. Then they put on a dance show and highlight the different groups. Very well done. We opted to stay in a traditional Zulu hut for the night and take part in the dinner. the hut was very well decorated and was just like a regular hotel room on the inside, except for the low ceilings (watch your head in the middle of the night). The dinner was excellent and so was the breakfast. Good stalls for shopping for souvenirs. The staff were all very nice and lovely to talk to.

Smooth 45 min car transfer from Sandton in Joburg by Moreba tours. Friendly driver, safe vehicle. The show and guided tour was supposed to start from 11 but they waited for more groups and people to show up so finally commenced from 11.40. Until then it was possible to walk around the cultural village, shop for souvenirs, have a drink etc.
The show starts with a 15 min video presentation on SA history, tribes etc which is good but the e quality is not exactly HD. Afterwards we had a lovely girl guiding us through the simulated villages of the 5 tribes, with a taste of each of their languages and customs, which lasted about 45 min. After a short break came the dance show which was also about 40 mins, with dances from all 5 tribes, marking different phases of tribal life, eg. hunting, fighting, celebrating etc. after the dance show there is a lovely buffet lunch served, with exotic dishes such as crocodile stew. Very tasty indeed.
Well worth a few hours, highly recommended.
