We spent 5 enjoyable days here while in the UK for our Grandson's wedding. Looking for some "character and charm", we booked a stay in a room in the oldest part of the hotel (dating from the 15th/16th century). We were not disappointed as the room was warm and inviting; the four-poster slept reasonably well. A superb English Breakfast was included and we thoroughly enjoyed the nice start to our day.
I will say that the rooms can be a bit noisy if there is a wedding or party afoot; two of our nights were not as peaceful as we would have liked due to the revelers on the street until 1:30 AM. Another caution for those no longer as dexterous as they once were, the step into the bathtub is an extremely high one and could be difficult for some to navigate. To be fair about it, we were told in advance there may be a bit of a "challenge". That said, we had excellent service throughout the stay. We would particularly like to thank Robyn, Adrian, Jonathan and Michael for going "above and beyond". We will plan to stay her again on our next trip to visit family in the area.More
