We have just returned from a weeks stay in villa 69 - 4 adults 2 toddlers. We had pre booked supermarket delivery which was waiting for us in our villa when we arrived - perfect. On arrival the villa was immaculate and very spacious ( too large for us really we kept loosing things! ). We decided not to rent a car as we wanted to make use of the villa, instead we took 3 taxi trips to Luz throughout our stay in hindsight however our party concluded a car would have been better given the remoteness of Almaverde. I think once the planned developments have been completed and Almaverde is a bit more 'alive' then it will be fantastic and worth that extra star. We didn't use the spa but took daily walks around the resort and visited the play area twice daily. We hadn't visited Potugal before but did find it quite windy, the wind turbines in the distance obviously suggested winds are common in this part. To conclude staff from reception to gardens to cleaners were all great, and villa was first class, but for us it's remoteness and slight under development left us wanting slightly more.

We stayed here (villa 108) from June 1, to June 4, 2013, and I believe this resort must be one of the finest, for its kind, with several amenities like fitness centre, spa, tennis courts, playground and free internet wi-fi, but only in or near the reception building.
It’s very well located for people that still want to enjoy the nearby beaches (Lagos, Burgau and Luz) and reasonably close to the village centres and shops (you’ll have to take a car though).
We stayed in a 3 bedroom villa with an option for a sofa bed in a study that we didn’t use. We used it as a nursery instead.
The villa was spotlessly cleaned on our arrival, equipped with all the house amenities that you can think of (alarm even), plus all the amenities that you need for an infant, and that was our case. The house also looked prepared and designed for physically challenged individuals, with a special bathroom, shower, large doors, and ramps with no construction obstacles whatsoever.
The pool had an adequate size with several depths to accommodate every person’s age and swimming abilities.
The livingroom/kitchen area was big and well equipped (with a Flat screen TV, DVD player, dishwasher, full size refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, toaster and electric kettle) but in the kitchen there were few light spots (to reduce energy consumption I believe). The 2 suites were large with king size beds, very modern and also well equipped. The only downside, and this is truly the only minor negative aspect we found in our stay, was that the blinds in the bedrooms didn’t completely shutout the light/sun, so from 6:30 am, sleep was a little bit more difficult (if you like to only sleep in the dark like we do).
Also, the TV had a large English channel selection but was scarce in other languages like Portuguese, so we asked for help and a member of the staff was sent right away to try to install the Portuguese channels but couldn’t so they immediately arranged for a technician to come on Monday (and he did) but by then we had welcomed the lack of tv so we waved the tv patch up. And even then, for that little inconvenience, we were offered a complementary souvenir so I think the staff handled this very well. Moreover the reception staff, in general, was very kind, competent, accommodating and truly professional and helpful in everything we needed in our stay.
In conclusion: This is a great place to go on holiday with your family and if you have small children, it’s perfectly prepared and suited for them.

Room Tip: villa 108 is very well located with a good sun exposure.

Have just returned from a short holiday in the Algarve staying at Villa 69. This is the second time we have stayed in this villa and we were not disappointed on our return. The villa is very well appointed, spacious and light. It was very clean when we arrived and the gardens were well maintained. The pool was clean and warm. The BBQ had been replaced and the new one was a definite improvement.
My only criticism would be of the bathrooms, that I think are poorly designed with very small showers and not sufficient shelf/storage space.
Also I was not aware that it is possible to rent WiFi equipment from the office and this would have been useful.
The staff in the office were exceptionally friendly and helpful.
Altogether a great experience and I would have no hesitation in recommending Alma Verde to friends.

We stayed with our 3 boys (ages 8,11,11) in villa Pinheiro 58, Aug 2012.
I would definitely recommend this for a peaceful relaxing family holiday. The accommodation is spacious and very clean, the garden was private, lovely warm pool and the kids had hours of fun, it certainly exceeded our expectations. You do need a car as the nearest shop is approximately 5 mins drive away and the nearest steakhouse/bar (approx 3mins drive away) there is not a footpath to enable you to walk there, only the roadside. The bar serves a huge choice of food and children are made very welcome. All in all we had a fantastic holiday at Alma Verde and we will definitely be visiting again.

We stayed at Villa 139 at Alma Verde, very well fitted out and a good design.
Reception staff very helpfull through our stay.
Burgau is the local fishing village and the restaurants are very good.
We are going back Easter and looking forward to our holiday.
