“This hotel puts a whole new meaning to the word budget!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 April 2012

Our large family (some of us visiting from Australia) stayed at this hotel in Dec 2011 and took 5 or so rooms. After the horrendous drive by private bus from Kolkata it took over an hour to check in and we found the reception staff to be quite useless and unhelpful. Even the manager was very rude and wanted to increase the tariff for us tourists (still very cheap for the two nights) and we experienced what can only be considered to be racism - because some of us are caucasian/white we could not be trusted apparently even though the booking had been made previously and a quote given! We did get a choice of rooms in the end and took the second floor, however our room was not clean, had stained/ripped sheets and pillowcases but lovely views of the ocean. They provided water but we preferred to use our own bottled water just in case. The food was barely edible, very disappointing and bit of pot luck really. No hot water whatsoever for showers. Room service was quite frustrating as they'd bring the wrong thing or not enough and would have to go back several times until the order was correct and yet they would expect tips every time. The tv hardly worked but there was always someone playing guitar and singing in the evenings which was lovely. The staff and other visitors to the hotel were noisy very early in the mornings - 6am! Our teenagers were also confronted by a strange elderly Indian woman pacing the second floor in front of our rooms which was quite scary for them. The FEW good things about this hotel is 1) the beach where you can pay a small fee to a photographer who takes photos of your family holidaying and gives you the prints - great idea, 2) the night markets are wonderful and 3) the leaving LOL. The day we left we were met with a snake in the outside shower and as we had to walk past it we made a hasty retreat. Never to return again!!! This hotel puts a whole new meaning to the word budget!

Room Tip: Don't go, but if you must then ask for a second floor room facing the ocean

It's a nice hotel in Digha. A very nice garden, rooms are big, and specially sea face rooms (non ac) are so nice to stay. You will hear sea sound, and feel a very pleasent wind from the sea all the time. At night you'll feel very romantic weather in these rooms. Rooms are not so dirty except sofa. The only thing i found is most dirty and smelly in the room. Food quality is not so good but costly. Room services are not so bad. Although its a nice hotel. NIHAR DAS.

Sea Hawk in Digha is one of the best budget hotels near to the sea. Good place for a visit with family. Quality of rooms, service, food are very average. Best rooms are on the 2nd floor facing the sea.

We went to digha in Dec 2011 & stayed in Hotel Sea Hawk. We got a room with partial side ways sea view. The room was very neat & clean with a very clean toilet. We got a pleasant surprise when one hotel boy knocked on the door to gives us an extra pillow for our son. This was a really good beginning. The room was equipped with pipped music & we all enjoyed it. They played only melodious songs & bhajans in the morning. The beach is almost a private beach which we can approach through the back door of the property.

In the center there is a small park for kids. The room had lots of natural light & air. The rooms are cleaned every day very thoroughly. Linen is changed regularly. The staff is helpful. The location of the hotel is very good.

It’s a family hotel. The restaurant needs some attention. The Chinese food was tasteless & quality was bad. There are some local eateries where you can have good food. The eateries on the beach near the market could also be tried. You can have tasty & freshly prepared breakfast from the eateries near the beach just outside the rear gate of the hotel.

You can book from their Kolkata Office in russel street (behind ITC House )

Room Tip: Ask for the sea facing rooms (usually non AC) or side facing AC rooms in 1st floor

I visited Seahawk during Month of February along with my kid and spouse. No online booking facility is available for making reservation in this hotel. Although Feb is considered as off season for Digha yet the fare that was charged by booking clerk was too high compared to the other hotels in Digha of the same standard. I came to know about this as I enquired about the tariff of other hotels in the adjoining locality of Seahawk in Digha. I was told that I will be given a sea facing room for which they had charged a premium; actually I was given a non-sea facing dull room in Ist floor of the hotel.

As I had made the advanced booking I was expecting the rooms to be ready on my day of arrival. When I checked In I found that the entire room was dusty with stained bed sheet as if the room was not in use since several days. After lots of calls at last they cleaned the room and changed the bed sheet. We ordered the food at night. Quantity of the food was too much but it was tasteless. Condition of the veg dishes was even worse. We ordered the breakfast in the morning. Apart from Puri sabji and toast nothing was available in the breakfast. Tea was ok . Considering this we ordered the tea again around 11.00 clock and to our surprise we were served with the tea which was prepared in the morning. All the room service staffs were asking for tips even for the smallest service they have provided.

Overall , the experience of staying in this hotel was not good. I will not recommend and I will not stay in this hotel in Digha next time.

Best of Luck if you are planing to stay in this Hotel with your family.
