The best located accomodation in Binsar, very good views from the Hotel.KMVN need to pay some attention to the property in terms of refurbishing it.Rooms , bathrooms are in bad condition. Light is cut off at 7.00 pm, in the morning we get hot water in buckets.
Staff is cooperative , need a better management.
The views form the rest house are awesome. It rained

KMVN has wasted an excellent location. Property is absolutely in poor shape. Rooms are almost in run down condition. The approach of hotel staff is also not friendly and they would not hesitate to say "NO" bluntly. At times you feel that they are obliging you.

Room Tip: No tip will help any one to find a good room

Binsar is serene. Binsar is bliss. Binsar is a place where you should be mentally prepared to switch off from your office grind. And then..... you will forget that there is no electricity, solar lighting for just two hours, no shops, no markets, no other hotels nearby except for a forest rest house, and soak in the untouched beauty of nature. The KMVN Hotel' greatest advantage is its location. The rooms are good with wood panelling. One gets a view of the Himalayas from most rooms. The hotel will supply candles to light in the night . There is a restaurant and it serves hot and tasty food. In any case you don't have an option of going anywhere else as there arent any other options. Most of the meals are buffet and the staff are extremely polite. The Hotel is located in midst of a sanctuary--- hence no electricity and no generators either. You get just about two hours of solar lighting. You have to charge your mobiles, laptops, camera batteries and other electronic gadgets during this period. Have dinner early and hit the bed early as there is little else to do after dark. But PLEASE DO WAKE UP EARLY-- VERY EARLY ! As you step out of your room to the huge terrace , you will be greeted with one of the most breathtaking sights of the Himalayas. You can chat, have tea and laze around for hours together. Or just gaze at the beautiful scenes around and listen to a thousand birds chirping.... you'll feel rejuvenated. The early morning walk to zero point is an experience in itself. If you start really early just at the break of dawn you might even get to watch a few wild animals( Its advisable to carry a hockey stick/baseball bat kind of a thing). However if you start at 7am or so, then there is absolutely no fear of anything. Definitely carry your sill as well as video cameras --- you might land up with some gems !! There is a watch tower at zero point (2.5 kms from hotel) from where you can not ony see the view but also listen to a wonderful orchestra of natural sounds. In the evening , take a small walk from the hotel to the sunset point behind the Forest Rest House , fix up your cameras and savour the scene of the sky changing its hues and the red ball of fire slowly dipping down --- a sunset to remember. This area must be developed more and made more tourist friendly. Overall KMVN will give you comfort and good, healthy food whereas Binsar itself will give you peace and tranquility. Dont ask for markets, shopping malls, restaurant and discos. Expect to have nature as your companion, and you will love the place.

Room Tip: Exe DB rooms are good. DB Deluxe rooms are a bit small. Higher floor rooms have better view.

Sept, 19, 2010

When we started from delhi in the morning we had no idea of the place we are going to as we all had never heard of binsar much. Anyways after crossing Almora in the way and when we started to go towards binsar mountain we were all awestruck by the beauty that was lying ahead. The roads seemed to become narrower and narrower but we just drove on. Finally when we reached there I could not believe that the place had no electricity. Initially we all found it bit awkward but after some time all of us enjoyed the same.

KMVN has developed a good property at the top most point of binsar. There is a diesel generator by which provide electricity for two hours or so in a day. In the morning they provide two buckets of hot water as the water is quite cold in the morning.

The guest house had a terrace which in the night is the best place for couples. It was so romantic i couln't still forget it. Cloud usually are so near that you can actually touch them.

There is no choice in food usually. They provide good food which is like home cooked.

In the morning you can go for a trek. This property is by far the best property in binsar compared to others like club mahindra and all which are situated very down the hills.

Room Tip: Take corner room , very romantic

It was a lovely stay here and enjoyed the beautiful scenery a lot. The staff are very helpful and good. The only problem here is just 2hrs you will get electricity from 7pm till 9pm but they give candles if you want to stay up late.
The view is awesome and I will say the best in the whole region. Taking a stroll in the forest is great but if you are looking for birds or animals you are to be an extreme lucky person to spot one..!!
I saw a cow 10 monkeys 3 deers 1 raven only the time i stayed there.
They say around 2am leopards come out. Dont really know as didnt really want to venture out so late at night.
The rooms are of good size and the bathroom is very big. We took a family room and the bathroom was as big as a room!!
It was a great stay in the hotel and we will sure to be back again as the views are the best in the whole Kumaon Himalayas!!
