Make sure you hire a guide, but be careful to get someone who has good English. Negotiate a price with them. 500 Indian Rupee was a fair price when we were there. He should take you to see 5 different sights and don't let them sell you stuff you don't want. The monuments are amazing and not to be missed! It is a world heritage site.

It is an amazing plethora of monuments with outstanding carving. The Arjun Penanace has almost the whole story of Arjuna carved out in stone.

The various caves - Mahishasuramardini, Varaha, Krishna mandapam etc are so well kept that it transports one back to the era when folks actually lived in caves!! The whole mythological story plays out in front of you as you hear the adventures of Pandavas.

The Krishna's butter ball of course, is a miracle to witness - how the several ton rock is balancing at the edge of the hill with no support. It seems so ready to roll at 45 degrees angle but has been in the same spot and position for the last 2000 years or more !!

A must see place. Do a day trip from Chennai if you are short on time !!
