After visiting and looking at 4-5 hotels, we finally decided to stay at Chiminda. We stayed there for 2 nights (17-18 Mar'12). Overall experience & service was good. Pelling is divided in 3 parts. Upper, middle & lower Pelling. Chiminda is in middle Pelling from where it was easy to walk across upper and lower Pelling. Morning view of snow clad Khangchendzonga mountain range from hotel balcony was awesome.

Room Tip: It is advisable to take rooms only at the front side mountain view. Don't take their suite at th...

I have read very good reviews of this hotel and have choosen this above all other hotel choices in pelling. I was hoping for a good family vacation. It was a terrible experience overall. The hotel is terribly managed, the walkways are dirtiest. One can see from the open windoes the bedsheets and pillows thrown into a horrible dirty room directly on the floor. I am more than sure that they are reused mutliple times without even going for a fresh wash. I had booked Suite room hoping that it will be a better room than anyother room in the hotel. Very strangely suite rooms dont provide any view to the mountain range, so had to shift to a Super delux room, which was handed over to us after 4 hours waiting time. The room wasnt cleaned, the bedsheets werent changed, the dustbin not cleaned, what not everything you cant even imagine to be done in that way, they have managed to do so. The Hotel manager wasnt bothered about the guests coming in but was more bothered about some negotiations with those checking out.

the last thing was they served bread thoast which had fungus on it. This is most terrible experience i ever had in my whole life. Dont at all prefer this hotel. Still if you want to prefer it, please go directly to the Hotel, check for yourself and then opt for a room. Most of the time, the hotel is half empty, you would easily get a room .
There are atleast a dozen more hotels you will get with a better qaulity for atleast 70% less than this hotel charges you. In pelling, there is no shortage or rooms and if at all you are planning to go to Pelling, just go there and check for rooms - you will easily get it as most of the hotels run with below 30% occupancy most of the times.

Pelling is a small town with limited facilities if you view it as a tourist place. With this backdrop, I would really like to congratulate Chiminda staff for their good management of the hotel.
Rooms are specious, clean. We liked the food and hospitality of the staff.
Overall a nice experience at Chiminda and Pelling!

From the first floor rooms that were alloted to us,the view of the mighty Kanchanganga glacier in the early morning was simply breathtaking..We did not have to go to any point thus to see it as we could admire it right from our balcony. The rooms and the service is amazing but the food quality is not so good.As we are non vegeterians we did not like the food so much and there are no good restaurants nearby so it was small problem. Also we did not find any medical store nearby and as one of us was not well we were stuck. We are not 'loud music' buffs and so the loud orchestra which was just below our rooms was very annoying. We were sleep deprived as the orchestra went on till 11 pm and we had to get up early the next journey and continue our journey.
Overall we liked the hotel as the whole purpose of visiting Pelling (to catch a glimpse of Kanhchanganga) was achieved..
