Castle Mandawa Hotel

Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 4 September 2012

After the extremely bad road leading from Delhi to Mandawa, the Castle Mandawa is a haven where one can just laze, relax and soak in the nature. The food is excellent, the staff extremely pleasant but the rooms need better air-conditioning. Not too many places to visit nearby but just being in the hotel, sipping on a chilled drink and a dip in the pool makes up for this.

The property has some beautiful locations on the terrace which guests should be encouraged to use and hold mini private parties.

Truly a castle.....

Room Tip: Check the air conditioning before opting for a room

The first look of the fort takes you back in time...We stayed for a night in the deluxe room..it was quite a big room with traditional look...our room was at the top of the fort and the view was marvelous from there..the staff were very helpful..and the food was good..the people sitting at the reception were very nice and co-operative..the best part was that it was at the heart of the village and most of the places to visit were at walkable distance..

However, the downside was the pool was not that clean...there was no (complimentary) mineral water in the room! Avoid having the water in the flask provided in the room..

Overall, had a very relaxing and peaceful stay..definitely worth a visit!

We were a group of 20 people and stayed at the castle mandawa on 16th night.
The place looks majestic and brings memories of the medieval era. The reception was good and in no time we were moved on the rooms. Rooms are majestic as the hotel but obsolete air conditioning system. Outdated and obsolete air conditioner are placed in the rooms. We were seating all the time. The management promptly shifted our rooms. Upgraded and downgraded. But all attempts were in vain. Only half of us could get proper rooms. Half of us could not sleep at night and we're sweating. The management on heir part tried a lot to improve our situation but it was in vain.
Apart from ACROSS rest all were fabulous.
We enjoyed a lot at the swimming pool. This is one of the best pools I have seen in he places I have been.
The food was very good. The buffet spread at night along with the folk music was fantastic.
The property overall is very scenic and so much to explore especially the medieval era shekhawati paintings.
This is a wonderful property but definitely watch out in extreme summer's.

Management response:Responded 5 July 2012

Dear Guest, Thank you for your feedback. Your kind comments about our dining amenities and swimming pool are highly appreciated. We are sorry to learn about the problems with the air conditioning but temperatures in Shekhavati soar to 48 degrees in June which makes even cooling a little difficult. We hope you will give us the pleasure to serve you again.

an old fort converted to tourist halting point....nice rooms.....nice food n best part is dat it is the best place to see the town due to its location on height. u get a feeling of royalty when u stay here. staff is helpful. nearby attraction is raghunath temple n view of old houses is a new experience. it is also known as the heart of shekhwati circuit of rajasthan tourism.

Room Tip: u can select rooms on top floor to see the old town

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Like many historic homes, Castle Mandawa is a curious mixture of the old and the new. Medieval turreted towers, palanquin-roofed balconies, blend with modern comforts in old-world rooms. Family portraits, antique cannons and arms add to the charm of this family-run resort where tradition still runs strong. Today, the world comes to this storybook town to see its colourful frescoes on every subject under the sun, that is, ranging from the religious to the erotic; from copies of popular English prints to witty social satire, rendered in the inimitable style of the local artist. And perhaps the best place to discover the legacy of Shekhawati is from the comfort of Castle Mandawa, a fortress, now converted into a luxurious heritage hotel. Explore Castle Mandawa at your own pace. Spend a leisurely hour over a drink in the colonial verandah that accommodates the bar, or relax in the cosy comfort of the Diwankhana, the formal drawing room decorated with family portraits and an array of antique armour. ... more   less
