This hotel was rated very highly in dimapur which says more about dimapur than the hotel. The service was very apathetic (except restaraunt staff who were great). There was blood on the wall in our room. After spraying mortein to kill the hundreds of mosquitoes, we were suddenly surrounded by an enormous amount of cockroach corpses. There was plenty of 'night life' coming in and out of the hotel. It was extremely over prices. I moved accross the road to de orient which was half the price and ten times cleaner. This is however, India!

I wanted to stay in this hotel but cancelled it as the rooms are not up to the mark . The price of the room is too high in comparison to the ambiance of the room and its maintenance. After seeing the room and looking at the price, I did not book the place and came out of there . They need to maintain and make the price according to the services they provide.

I stayed for two nights in June 2012. This was not the first time I had stayed there (September 2010) but this time was much worse. The bedding looked good, was fine, but the general cleanliness and state of the room and bathrooms, and facilties is poor. I was intending to stay five nights but left after two and found alternative accommodation.
I found better places to stay in Dimapur.

Room tip: Top floor is better than 2nd floor, bathrooms vary enormously.

The Saramati Hotel is apparently one of the best in Dimapur. It has certainly seen better days. Paint is peeling, there are stains on the mosaic floor. However, the beds are clean and so is the bathroom. The AC makes a huge rattling sound, the TV didn't work....The intercom didn't work either, so there was no way of contacting Room Service except by going down to Reception and placing one's order there! The complimentary breakfast was all right though. In a place where there is limited choice, there is nothing much that one can do. The plus point is that the staff are friendly and courteous .. And btw don't be fooled by the prices quoted on the Net for this hotel ...the room rates are much higher.

Room tip: First floor...because there are no lifts, and the stairs are very steep! Also check that the taps and ACs are working before unpacking. Otherwise you may need to change the room.

On our first visit to Dimapur en-route to Kohima, we were booked in this hotel. The Foyer is really huge!! All the rooms are on the 1st to 5th floors. And each flight of steps is quite a climb. To top it all they have no Lift!! This hotel is run by the Tourism Department of Nagaland. It is presently in a very shabby condition, The property is good and can become a first class hotel with some refurbishing. The rooms are in satisfactory condition but the carpets and linen are well worn and need immediate replacement. The staff is helpful.
The hotel is set on a sprawling piece of land which could be landscaped to present a better overall image.
The food quality was also just about satisfactory.

Room tip: Choose a room on the first floor to avoid climbing up & down the steep stairs to your room.
