A place where I end up when I need some peace and pampering. Perfect place to start your journey into the hinterland and most definitely the place to stay before departing this engaging and fascinating place.
Annie is a wonderful, passionate host. You are in safe, knowledgable hands at Lomgchen!
Situated 15-20 mins away from the airport in the Aoyimti village. Accessible by car but the roads are under construction. The premise has a paddy field, pond, 4 beautiful dogs, well maintained garden etc. Rooms are well decorated and provided with all the amenities like chappals, soaps, shampoos, mosquito repellents (highly necessary), towels, tea, coffee, cups, water, glasses, coat hangers, mirror etc. The dining space is innovative and the food prepared tastes like home. The staff is very helpful and courteous. Cleanliness is top notch. Hot water is available 24*7. There’s no TV attached in the rooms. So after dark; i.e. after 6 there is nothing really to do. There are not many shops around this place as well. But definitely a place to come back to.
Our very first time in the north east and we had a pit stop in Dimapur before heading to Kohima, we chose longchen homestay run by Annie.
We were given the woodpecker cottage.
It was a beautiful, relaxed stay. The cottage is very well done, small details make the place perfect.
Complete with hot water, a dining area, a open balcony and great food.
Good job Annie!
Longchen homestay is definately among the best accommodation you can get in Dimapur. Located close to the Dimapur Kohima highway and a stones throw from the airport , this homestay is very equipt and sufficiently amenitized to give you a comfortable stay. I stayed here for 2 nights in what was a quick trip , but it was comfortable. With a beautiful compound / lawn , the views from the terrace are amazing. Some of pluses are:
- Hospitality - the hospitality from the owner to the caretaker is simply amazing ! Any order or request is immediately tended to and they are always smiles and happy to assist
- The food is to die for !! Plain simple homely food , but so delicious and tasty and yet healthy cos they use authentic and simple ingredients. Do eat at the homestay if possible, i am not really sure how many good hotels are available at the city
- The locality and views are superb. Grab some time and have a hot piping chai on the terrace while gazing at the hills beyond Dimapur.
- The homestay is very popular so taxis or tour guides would not have an issue finding or locating it in case you plan to call one.
Do stay at Longchen if on a visit to Dimapur. Id certainly recommend this place.
I stayed for two nights in May 2018 and returned for another night in June.
The cottage where you stay is on the same plot of land as the family house. It is a cross between a homestay and a guest house. It is run by a mother-daughter duo and is beautiful and immaculate. The mother handles the decor which is traditional and stylish from bamboo beds to hanging plants and a Naga kitchen mock-up in the dining area. The daughter has a qualification in hotel management and it shows in the attention to detail and care for the guests.
It is a little pricey compared to other homestays but according to me it is worth it, especially if you have had a long and tiring journey getting to Dimapur.
There’s no too much to see in Dimapur but the Aoyimiti village enclave is very quiet, clean, green and you can just relax here while you wait for your next transport connection. Food is simple but very good. Rooms are spotless and have extras like a kettle in the rooms, wifi, hot water, balcony area.
Mother and daughter are very helpful in helping you plan your journey.
It’s right next to the airport or about 200₹ auto from centre of town (or you can take a share auto for about 30₹).
I would stay again if I am back in Dimapur.
