This is one of the best memorable place of my life.
I love this place, and most importantly the people who work in here.
Food is nice, their farm tour is also good. Good stay facilities and nice ambience.

Must visit place.

This was the second time that I visited Saguna Baug and thought the place was definitely worth a review and this way I would also ensure I did my bit spreading word about the wonderful work that’s been done here.
The place lives up to its name and is by all means a farm with numerous attributes. The concept that its build around is agro tourism, and I must applaud the effort put in by the owners.

Saguna Baug is a 250 acre farm by the river. Once there you can indulge into a number of activities which are otherwise unheard off by city dwellers.
To begin with you could take a bullock cart ride, try your hand at farming, swim in a real river, stay in a pond house etc.

I would recommend a one or two days stay which would pretty much cover everything and also give you enough time to enjoy the calm.
The real charm of the place is the pond house; do try reserving the place early as its booked most of the time. The cottages are a beauty as well, and can comfortably house 4 adults. Look out for the Warli paintings that adorn the huts, each of them have a story to tell!

The bullock cart ride though quite bumpy, is an experience in itself. We also took a tour of the farm where the guide patiently explained how they go about planting various crops and harvesting them, also showed us the lotus pond and made us taste the seeds from the flower.
After walking through the entire farm we returned sweating and exhausted to the front office building and were greeted with a glass full of cold kokum juice, as we gulped down the refreshment we could literally feel all the tiredness run out of our body and realized how hungry we were. Lunch consisted of two vegetable preparations, dal, roti, salad, papad and chaas. Non- vegetarians can order fish, chicken or egg at an extra cost.
After eating to our hearts content we stretched out on the hammocks tied to the gigantic mango trees, and in no time were put to sleep by the cool breeze and the sweet rustling sound of the leaves.
Waking up to the aroma of fresh brewing tea we got up and walked to the pond were our morning guide had promised to meet us with our fishing rods.

With our bait’s ready, we dipped our rods in the water and settled down in anticipation of our catch. The entire exercise was a lot of fun, however it left me giggling at the paradox of waiting for hours catching a fish and then feeling guilty looking at it helplessly dangling down my rod, and finally releasing it back into the water.
There’s nothing much to do once it gets dark so we sat out with mosquito coils by our side and chatted long into the night. It was such a unique experience to see a nigh as dark with no street lights no lights from houses or establishments around, but just a deep dark silence.

Go there to experience our roots, and live a farm life, I personally loved every bit of it but if there’s one thing that could have been better, it would be the food.I am not a big Marathi food lover but it you are then it might just be your treat :)

If you consider yourself a man of the soil, Saguna Baug is the place for you. A quaint farm house, lots of place to wander about, sweet melody of birds in around... and simple food to relax your taste buds.

Location: It took us 2 hours to reach from Bombay (minus 1 hour getting stuck in traffic). The journey was worth it.

The Service: We were greeted with some good ol' Indian breakfast (the Maharashtrian missal was delicious). Adults in the group had their fill but not the kids. Boy were they excited about the place. Saguna Baug has all the bacha party can wish for in a farm house. You can go fishing in the ponds or river. They have a buffalo and a bullock cart ride that was interesting too.

Fitness centre: A farm guide would take you around the farm giving information about the flora. Infact I would dare to say he was giving us examples like an Indian Bear Grylls (of Man vs. Wild). Interesting tidbits on which plant works as a natural antiseptic and which plant can provide you with water when you can't find any water sources around. After the long farm tour we were treated to their kokum sherbet (trust me! DO NOT MISS IT)

Sleep Quality: Lunch followed by a siesta in hammock strung all around the place. The cool breeze accompanied by the soft call of birds made us drift into oblivion. I do not remember the last time I slept like that.

Swimming Pool: The natural kind. Saguna Baug is located close to the Ulhaas River. This makes the ambience even more compelling for a swim.

Rooms: For a very nominal rate, you can book farm cottages. They give you tents too. Food is on the house so you can go around your relaxing ways, eat when you its time and then go off again to play.

As background information, I met the owner. A down to earth young man, Chandrashekhar, took over the reins from his father. They were suppliers to the Haffkine Institute for snake venom. Slowly and steadily, the idea of a farm house hotel began to take form and now it is a full fledged business.
The farm is a 50+ acre agro forest complete with fields and a gober-gas plant. The management wants this farm to stand for eco-tourism.

An interesting encounter with the rare Indian Rock Python winded up the amazing day. You should ask Chandrashekhar about it.

If ever there was an Indian ishtyle break, this was it.

Had seen the details on this place on quite a few websites a couple of years back and was trying to fit this trip in one of my weekend outings.

So the moment my girl and me got a chance to take a nearby weekend road trip I suggested trying out this place. The place is amazing for families, both with kids and elders. A very good and different setup. Kids will surely love the ecotourism concept. Rooms are spacious (felt that coz maybe it was just two of us, maybe its perfect for families)

I was quite disappointed with the food though. Expected more delicious meals with nice country spices and flavor. Food was absolutely bland. If you need soft drinks or mineral water, theres a shop which sells these but the shop is open at random hours. We couldnt get a bottle of mineral water from 8pm to 1pm next day. Ridiculous that was!

Hello travellers...

Hope you are doing fine.

Here is my experience about one of best weekend getaways near Mumbai and Pune which is yet untouched still beatiful place to visit.

Saguna

Baug is a real weekend refreshment..
It is easily reachable from metro cities like Mumbai and Pune.

You can catch Karjat/Khopoli local, Deccan express, Koyna express if you travelling from Mumabi.
You can catch Pune Krjat shuttle, Sinhagad express, Sahyadri express and then local if you travelling from Pune.

Try for Pond house booking at Saguna Baug which really is a calm and beautiful place to stay.

Other arrangements like cottages, dormitories, tents are also quite good an d worth staying.
You can enjoy boating, farm visits, dairy visits, fishing during your stay.
The most exciting feature of Saguna baug, according to me, is the river swimming.
Most of the leading resorts have their own artficial water reservoirs for swimming. Ulhas river will give you the joy of swimming in it’s free flowing water.
You can also enjoy a BAFFALO RIDE... yes you read it correct. a baffalo ride which is a complementary.
You can also try bullock cart to hang out.

Every ingredient of the food here is the product of their own farm.
Bhadsavle family is a very kind and innovative and I thank them for providing such a beautiful farm resort.

Day picinic cost : 425Rs per head w/o room
Day picinic cost : 500Rs per head with room

Apart from open sheds, they also have dormitories, cottages and a pond house where you can plan one day or more that one day stay.
