The apartment is very comfortable, well appointed, warm and clean. Even during some rainy periods that kept us inside, it was nice to sit in an easy chair by the French window, enjoy the countryside view and relax. We use Virgin mobile and had no signal in and around the apartment. But there is free wi-fi, so you can keep in touch via social media if you really must!
We did some local walks as well as walking around part of Kielder water, which is only a short drive away. A night time visit to the Kielder observatory was also a very worthwhile and informative experience.
We have recommended the apartment and observatory visit to friends.
Had the most perfect 2 night break at stargazers, the weather was amazing, and so was the apartment. It had everything we wanted and more. Will certainly return and am already recommending it to friends. Thank you stargazers .
Wonderful apartment for a couples trip away. Impressive apartment and views, great locals and things to do.
Stayed for 2 nights in November as we were booked to go to the observatory. The apartment is lovely, very clean and you want for nothing. When we arrived the apartment was a bit chilly, As it was cold outside, but had a word with Mary the owner, who lives downstairsand and she put the heating straight on for us.
Never got to go the the holly bush inn which Mary owns, as I was unwell and left early the next day. Would certainly recommend the apartment, the views from the windows are lovely.
We were booked into the Kielder Observatory for a Stargazing session and so, when we found the Stargazer Apartment listed, it just seemed too much of a coincidence to miss!
The apartment feels as if it is in the middle of nowhere, due in large part to the all round views of open countryside, with your nearest neighbours being the flock of sheep roaming around. In fact there is a pub within walking distance in the village, Bellingham a short drive away with shops and facilities and, if you drive a little bit further to Corbridge or Hexham, you have everything you could need.
The landscape here is wild and windy and almost deserted, a twenty or so minute drive will take you to Kielder water, with the dam, walks and cycle paths and, of course, the Observatory - Kielder having one of the darkest skies in Europe, great for stargazing.
The apartment is huge, so much space for two - an enormous double height daytime living space, with well equipped bijou kitchen, dining table, two big, comfy leather sofas, bookcases full of reading material and board games, big TV with Sky channels and good wifi connection. There is a variety of lighting which creates a really cosy environment.
A table with star map and binoculars and chairs are in front of the french windows for when the sun goes down, or you could decamp to the small decking area outside the front door, plus the apartment even has it's own private garden area with table and chairs.
A bedroom with roll top bath and then shower room ensuite complete the living space. Bed was a tad softer than we like, but proved more comfortable than we were expecting. No ambient light or noise to keep you awake or wake you up in the morning. We were aware that there were people next door but this was a very hands off rental, we could have accessed information or help if we needed it, but we liked that we remained very private. In fact, you could quite easily just relax in the apartment, but that would do an injustice to the surrounding area which has much to offer - lots of castles, forts and, of course, Hadrian's Wall.
Really relaxing and super comfortable, we would highly recommend the Stargazer Apartment.
