“A perfect break with a toddler”
Reviewed 22 April 2014 for a stay in April 2014

We arrived on Good Friday with my 2 year old grandson. Little touches just made our stay perfect from the start, including the large cuddly bunny sat in the back window on the mezzanine. My grandson was so excited the Easter bunny was there.
The lounge is lovely and cosy with a large fireplace with a light to illuminate it. We did not need to use the fire however as the room was warm enough with just the radiators. Beyond the lounge the room opens up behind a curtain to the dining area with stairs and a mezzanine area above with pc and a huge selection of toys. My grandson did not even unpack his own toys we brought. There are lots of books for children and grown ups along with a good selection of dvds for a quiet night in. The bedrooms are spacious and the bathroom fantastic with its shower and roll top bath. Even a set of bath toys in there.
The kitchen has everything you need, washing machine, fridge, freezer and dishwasher all hidden behind cupboard doors. The cottage was spotless and very clean.
We enjoyed exploring the cottage with all its quirkiness, original features artworks and history. It is a great mixture of the old and modern. The ceilings are high making the house seem even larger.

Opposite the cottage is a public footpath which goes past the church and down into the village, There is a fantastic playground at the bottom of the hill yards from the house. We only stayed 3 nights and wish we had stayed longer. We visited Gullivers Kingdom and Alton Towers which is only a short drive away across a moor with no traffic on it on bank holiday weekend. We also found the back road from Bonsall straight to Sainsbury's at Matlock. Rather a narrow road but views were spectacular,

Thanks for your review! Full credit to Clare who looks after the house on my behalf. Good to know my son's toys (who had his 9th birthday this week) are keeping younger guests entertained!

“perfect break”
Reviewed 1 March 2014 for a stay in February 2014

We stayed here for a short break with our 7 month old daughter in February 2014. The cottage is stunning. A beautiful old building in a lovely setting. We were made to feel very welcome and the cottage was very comfortable. There are some great little walks starting from the front door. We would certainly go back.

“Charming cottage, all details taken care of before we arrived”
Reviewed 13 January 2014 for a stay in December 2013

This was a very pleasant family trip to the peak district and the cottage and village made the stay very memorable and hassle-free.

There are several personal touches which add a lot of character, such as the art throughout the house, the notes and guide pamphlets, and the heating was turned on before we arrived meaning that we had a cosy welcome on cold day.

Jonathan also went extra miles to accommodate a couple of small requests as well which were highly appreciated.

Overall this was a great trip and we would recommend this to any small group looking to stay in a very pretty part of England.

“A good central position for seeing the Matlock Area”
Reviewed 25 October 2013 for a stay in August 2013

Weavers cottage is in a nice village with a history of past crafts, we enjoyed our stay and Jonathan was very helpful with the children's toys. The cottage has all amenities you need. The village has a playground which the grandchildren certainly appreciated. There are two pubs in the village. And a tearoom. The cottage is pretty central to get to most attractions such as Bakewell if you fancy trying a the original tasting Bakewell tart or maybe Chatsworth for the splendour of the estate .
