The Resort is a part of the famed Manas group, just across the road from the original resort. We booked a pent house and 2 executive suites in October for a Christmas package of 2 nights with all meals inclusive. Being in Igatpuri aka middle of nowhere you do not have any options otherwise. The trip held great promise, with us cherishing gr8 memories of our last trip of Dec 2009, of the famed Manas Hospitality. But alas, the memories were not revisited or even remotely matched.
At the very outset the resort itself looks rundown and in need of repairs. This is more apparent if one checks into the rooms with stained upholstery in the rooms including the pent house, which was outrageously exorbitant. The so called penthouse which had 2 rooms had only one extension between them, talk about attention to detail. The rooms fixtures were also in a pathetic condition with the fixtures broken. There was a ultra-modern "box" for controlling the light and other electronics in the room, which had a mind of its own and inoperable at times. Room service was painfully slow and housekeeping was non-existent with the extension number never being answered and you having to dial reception to get a response. The only redeeming feature of the rooms was the view, which overlooked a valley
The BIGGEST let-down however, was the food at the hotel. The menu for the buffet lunch and dinner was pathetically planned, limited, unimaginative and worse, repetitive. Breakfast was a tedious affair with stale idlis and pathetic sambhar not helping either. In fact, the "live" counters at dinner were so pathetic that my poor sis in law (once an Hotel executive) took it upon herself to cook for her family rather than suffer the unpalatable nonsense.
The only good feature was that the nearly empty resort ensured an deserted game room which boasted of one pool table one TT table and two carrom boards. The promised x’mas party was a damp squib with a bored Santa Claus handing out cheap toffee and standing in corner and a dj blaring out the same music over 2 days. The only way we salvaged the trip was by having fun amongst ourselves.
In short avoid at all costs, don’t bother visiting even if it’s the last resort left standing. You are better off at home
