“Sagar Sawali - Ladghar , Dapoli”
Reviewed 22 February 2013

It was my first family trip to Dapoli. The Kokan region has nice beaches & beautiful landscape but it doesn't have high standard resort facilities which we can see around the world or even in Goa.
Anyway Sagar Sawali,-Ladghar its worth to stay, if you don't have high expectations from the hotel. Its friendly & safe place for family. Well maintained. . Good Service. Awesome food.

Sagar sawali has 2 hotels one is in Ladghar and one is Karde. Both are near by Dapoli.
Ladghar has cottages , where Karde doesnt .

Room Tip: In Ladghar : 2 options either Hotel room or Cottages. in Hotel rooms ask for room no. 101 or 102. T...

I have read the reviews of many visitors to this place. As I am also an avid traveller on my own vehicle,I would agree that the roads are in very bad shape, specially in Maharastra. The last three kilometres to Ladghar were torturous , and when suddenly came in front of the mighty, awh every other pain was taken care of. When we entered, Mr. shiva was assigned to us and he did take good care of us. On the first day we four adults with a kid and infant stayed comfortably in one cottage.,and got the other in the next morning. After breakfast of upma and poha, we went to the see,and enjoyed. We reached this place after visiting Ali Baugh , and if we compere, this beach was the cleanest I have come across so far. The whole beach for us only, clean gentle waves, wasting ashore pattern making animals buried in the sand was a sight. I certainly would recommend this site for two days.holidaying.

Room Tip: Take cottage in the summer with A/C. These cottages were made of asbestos and windows of anodised al...

After much evaluation, we zeroed in on this property. Its well maintained property but just about ok. The rooms are airy and all are sea facing. Food at resort is very expensive.

One needs to note that the property is at the far end of Karde beach and the road is extremely bad. You take nearly half hour to cover distance of barely 2 kms. On the way you pass many other properties like Whistling Palms which is at beginning and bang on beach, Kinara and few more. SS is at the end. The beach in front is ok. but if you walk further 5 mins, its really beautiful.
Another important note is that bang opp the resort is a hindu cremation ground so some people may find it spooky especially in the night. Especially if there is a ongoing cremation happening.

Overall a good experience though next time may stay in homestays which are far cheaper. Food wise best to eat out. But note that service is pretty laidback and the food can take more than 1 hr to come to your table, so plan accordingly.

Definately do watersports & Dolphin Cruise from Murud which is 15 mins drive, very VFM and well managed.

We stayed there for 3 nights (18/12 to 21/12). We wanted to plan for moderate distance. Not too short like Alibaug area and not far like sindhudurga or goa. So we decided to go to Dapoli and we came across Sagar Sawali on net with good reviews, availability and recommendations for food. Reaching there took much longer than expected due to bad roads and last 4 km was total off roading. You definitely need a SUV to drive there or drive very slow to make sure you dont go to garage after this vacation :). Well after we reached there, what surprised me was the size of rooms and balcony. You can call it a sun deck. The room and balcony was bigger than I expected from online photos. The day we landed happened to be tuesday so we tried veggie that day. Which was very good and of course the sea food on later days was very good too. The staff was very warm and welcoming. Our overall stay was very good and 3 nights gave us enough time to recharge. The only thing that disturbed us was that on our second day there was private party arranged at the hotel. This disturbed all the guests staying there with loud noise and music. All guests had come there to take a break from city noise and pollution. The party made sure everyone had a restless evening. If the hotel management can take care of such things, I would definitely recommend this hotel. I would definitely plan for second visit if I am travelling somewhere near.

We stayed at the Sagar Sawali Beach Resort on Karde beach in Dapoli on 12th Dec 2012 and were pleasantly surprised with multiple things that the place had to offer. But first the journey from Pune to the beach was a little difficult as we took the Tamhini Ghat road which was in a bad shape post the monsoons. However, once past the Ghats, the roads are fine till Dapoli.

The positives about Karde and Sagar Sawali -

1. Beautiful and sparsely crowded beach.
2. Fantastic views from the rooms.
3. Excellent food.
4. Very good service provided to us.

Negatives

1. Credit cards not accepted !!!
2. Approach road to the beach is in bad shape.
3. Nearest bar is 3 KMs away from the beach (One can get beer in the resort though)

First of all, one should bear in mind that this is a Konkan beach and not a Goan beach. So expectations should be kept bearing this in mind. Having visited beaches like Alibag, Diveagar and Murud Janjira in Konkan, Karde beach seems like a breath of fresh air and is probably one of the best beaches in the Konkan belt. Reasons are many. One it is strategically located with mountains on one side and the sea at the other so there are not many cheap homestay options which bring in a lot of corresponding crowds to a beach. Two, the huge huge beach is one of the biggest and cleanest beaches in Konkan. Three the place has really nice resorts which are quite private.

Surely a beach worth a second and third and fourth visit and the resort worth it too.

Room Tip: All 16 rooms have sea view however the second floor rooms esp 114 and 115 have great views. One down...
