This was our first trip to Chamba in Himachal Pradesh. After doing my bit of research, I decided to stay at Jamwal Villa Homestay. Connected with Manish (the owner) through email and fixed the deal for 3N/4D. On arrival, we were received by Manish. Due to some reason, there was no electricity for the first 2 days of our stay, however, Manish ensured that we were provided with hot water, portable lights etc. Service is prompt, thanks to Prem and Manoj. The Jamwal family is very cordial. Manish's mother and wife cook tasty traditional food. Gajar ka halwa was simply yummy. We really enjoyed our trip to Chamba.

Jamwal homestay is a perfect spot to spend some quality time with your friends and family. Recently i planed a trip to himachal with my colleagues and collage friends. We decided to stay at jamwal villa and believe me this was the best decision we took on the trip :) :) .
Jamwal villa is located on bank of river "Ravi", it is a very very beautiful house, i loved the "yoga point" where we spend hours, revising my "school chapters" with friends :P. We had some drinks on the river side with bone fire around us, it was too awesome.

Our initial plan was to roam around chamba and than move to dalhousie, but the owner "Mr Manish Jamwal" introduced us some very beautiful places like bharmour, holi and the 6 km tracking to old kailash was a life time experience. They are very beautiful places which are not lime lighted till now (dont know why).

I am a foodie and i loved the food at jamwal villa.Foil chicken, tabak maas, khatta meat, sarso ka saag & makke ki roti was very very good.

I will definitely visit "Jamwal villa" again with my family.

Taking a break from our metro life we spent four days at Jamwal Villa and after returning we are just waiting to go back again! This quiet place is about 10 kms away from Chamba town, off Chamba-Bharmour road, on the side of river Ravi, with green mountains on all sides. You can simply sit at "Yoga Point" for hours and watch the moving stream of Ravi flowing below or look at the still mountains. A small walk downhill and you can have a splash in the river. The garden at Jamwal Villa is full of fruit-bearing plants/trees (guava, peer, plum, grapes, lemon), vegetables (cabbage, radish, mustard, kohlrabi, capsicum, chili) and a lot of flowers. The food at Jamwal Villa is another high-point of our stay. We had requested for local cuisine and Manish's mother took the pain to offer us several such dishes and each one was simply excellent (I personally liked Rajma Madra). The rooms are simple, comfortable and clean. Manish and his wife took time to tell us about Chamba's rich history, culture and folklore. Manish also helped organize our pickup/drop and travel around Chamba and Mcleodganj with very reliable drivers. If you want a less-touristy, peaceful break in the hills with friendly hosts, you should explore Chamba district and Jamwal Homestay.

Big "thumbs up" to the Jamwal family. Here are the highlights of staying with them.

1. Very welcoming and hospitable family. Owners, Manish and his wife are an educated couple living with their kid and mom. Very gracious hosts who will make sure you enjoy your stay and feel at home. They will make you feel like family and will help you plan your trip.
2. House is located in a perfect setting in the Chamba Valley next to the raabi river. View just couldnt get better. It was a delight having tthe morning tea in their beautiful lawn with the pitcuresque view of the valley and the raabi river.
3. Its a simple house with all basic amenities. There are 2 rooms for guests. Clean and Big guest rooms with well equipped bathrooms (including hot water 24X7).
4. Their mom (aunty) manages the kitchen and cooks finger licking delicious regional food. It is homely and healthy food. Do insist on eating local food made by aunty. Some of my favorites were Kadhi Mutton & Anardana Mutton in Non Veg, Stufferd Khamire Parathe & Rajma in Veg and Patrode & Lasode in snacks. Without aunties home made food, your stay at Jamwal Villa is incomplete.
5. This village is 10Kms from Chamba town. This makes it secluded and you do need a personal taxi to drive around. But you need a taxi anyway, if you want to see places like Khajjiar, Kala Top, Dalhousie, Bharmour, Chamera Lake etc. Manish will plan the trip for you based on your liking.
6. Jamwal Villa is rated one of the best in the region and Manish proudly showcases how it has been featured as a top 10 home stay in Himachal (only one from chamba) in a tourism magazine.
7. Last but not the least, the cost of stay and food is super reasonable. And still way better than staying with exotic resorts in similar setting that charge you 3 times more.

Do stay 3 full days to enjoy and de-stress. I travelled during rainy season and it was still a pleasure (especially the view from this house). Ofcourse, our travel was limited because of the rains but we culd also see the apple orchards in full bloom at Barmour.

Room tip: Any room is fine. Room is the last place you may want to sit in. You will spend your time in his lawn or even his drawing room that Manish allows you to use for evening snacks and chats.

Jamwal hoemstay is a very good spot to take a break from all. We stayed here for 3 days. The owner helped us finding a good taxi for a good price (by talking on the phone with the taxi driver). It's kind of secluded from the village Chamba, you will need a taxi. But that means you can enjoy a very beautiful garden with the most beautiful birds without the usual "blow horn" sounds :-)
Grandma is a splendid cook and the owner a very pleasant host. (Her husband was out of town at the time we were there so we didn't meet him). The veggies come from their own garden, so all fresh. There all sorts of fruit trees too. We even savoured the last peaches from their own garden, they tasted like when I was a child, very juicy and tasteful!
The wheat for the roti's come from nearby: it's freshly grounded! The milk comes from the cow around the corner and is not spoiled by any silly processing. Butter: same story so for someone like me who likes all food to be as fresh and pure as possible, this a heaven!
Good spot to take a rest from India in a romantic garden, savour good food, as much as you like (grandma is watching over you and the moment you take the last roti there is another plate on the way:-)) and very friendly people: Go to Jamwal homestay, worthwhile!
Also good for a nice walk, it is near a waterfall and a big river. The servant took us for a nice walk and showed us a good spot to sit.
Don't forget to check out Chamba as well: we didn't do and I still think that is a shame. It looked like a nice little village which is not spoiled by tourism.

Room tip: One point less for hygiene of one of the bathroom, not really dirty for Indian standard but not as clean as home I guess :-) One point less for quality of room because there was no aircon. We were fine with fan but better to know on forehand so you know what to expect.
