“Place of worship virtually devoid of the anathemas”
Reviewed 22 June 2013

The temple is on the main road and so easily accessible. There are a whole lot of dharamshalas around it for the religious groups. The temple complex itself is clean and the darshan are well organised in a queue. One can view the deity clearly without any pushing and jostling by the crowd. The vendors of the pooja samagri and prasad do not hassle or haggle. There are virtually no beggars. Only caution to observe is beware of the monkeys.

“Chamunda Devi b/w Kangra & Dharamshala”
Reviewed 18 June 2013

The review is of Chamunda Devi temple Nr Dharamshala & not Chamunda Devi of Chamba of which the photos are displayed here. There is a confusion b/w the two.

Well, what to say, its a b'ful b'ful small hill town. You can see snow clad mountains just nearby & it gets very chilly in evening & night even during summers. Very peaceful for night stay too rather than noisy Dharamshala. Early morning you can even go to the river for a bath in the mountain chilly water. You can spend evening on the river too and have some chaat & chana zor etc. There is a small lake too which offers boating option.

The Shrine is b'ful in itself & once you see the Devi idol, can send shivers down your spine. She looks ferocious. No doubt she killed Chand - Mund (the demons). If you are staying for night then attend the Arti at temple around 7 PM & I bet you had not experienced such serene hymns anywhere else in the words. Though it all is in sanskrit, but transports you to a different world altogether. You will feel blessed to be a part of this.

Devi here rides a "corpse". (Just like Ganeshji rides a mice). For this purpose there is a crematorium just on the opposite side of theriver bank & it is said that everyday a person is bought here from nearby villages too for cremation. If in case one doesnt arrive, then temple authorities make a corpse of dry leaves etc & burn it. It is also said that in such a case two corpse will arrive the next day! Strange but true!

Offers good hotels also for semi-luxury stay.

“Lovely view from the top.”
Reviewed 3 June 2013

Just a few miles from town, this beautiful temple is on a hilltop. The view of Chamba town, the river Ravi and the surrounding mountains is indeed breathtaking!

“Real Spiritual Power and worth visitng place in Himachal Pradesh”
Reviewed 29 April 2013

We felt real power of the Goddess in the Chamunda Devi Temple near Kangra in Himachal Pradesh. We got a Pooja done there and many of our group members got out of body experience and were able to see various colours within ourselves while doing mantra and meditation at this holy place of Chamunda Devi.

It is a worth visitng place which 1 cannot miss
