“Best Holiday Ever (Solluna Resort, Jim Corbett)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2012

We had the best holiday in Solluna Resort recently with our friends. Solluna Resort is located towards the end of Jim Corbett Park with the RamGanga river flowing just next to it which makes it the best located resort in Jim Corbett. Cottages in the resort are very comfortable equipped with all the modern neccessities required for a comfortable stay. Food and services offered are exceptional with very courteous staff who are on their toes day and night to make your experience unforgatable. Outdoor activies like Swimming Pool, Table Tennis, Basket Ball, Volley Ball etc. were enjoyed by everyone especially kids. Special Guitar performance was organised which was out of this world.

Looking forward for the next holidays in Autumn when we could visit this place again and relive our wonderful memories.

It was great experience . The staff were very polite , the food was very very good . The location was amazing . The rooms were done very well with good interiors . The resort was very well mantained being such a big resort. The drive from RAM NAGAR to SOLLUNA RESORT was realy very amazing with jungle on both sides of the road with awesome view. The SOLLUNA RESORT is located a good 20KM from Jim Corbett park gate. The SOLLUNA RESORT is right next to the river RAMGANGA with a super cool view and a great location. My over all experince about the SOLLUNA RESORT was very amazing and very relaxing. Even my 2 year old kid had a blast. It is a must visit place if you are looking for a quality time in Jim Corbett.

We had a group outing at the Solluna Resort recently with nearly 70 people. To start with Solluna is towards the end, about 20Kms ahead of most of the resorts in Jim Corbett (JC). In a way that keeps it quiet and serene v/s the rest, while increasing your travel time by 45 mts. The last mile is not accessible by large vehicles and one needs to seek Resort transportation or walk down if not in a car. The first impression is that of a big wide orchard, then the accommodation reveals itself (setup on various hillock levels). The river flowing next to Solluna does not have much water in this season (so much so one could cross it, with water at knee length). Given that Solluna has been the location for the present season of Splitsvilla, one sees a lot of left-behind sets of Splitsvilla which people find happy clicking opportunity (including a very nice lounge on top of the restaurant). I must say without the Splitsvilla remains, the resort may appear too boring. The food was reasonably good however its the maintenance and service I found wanting. The Swimming pool was in a bad shape with repeated reminders to clean or fill it up falling to deaf ears. The changing rooms at the pool are a shocker (if the manager is reading, suggests he visits it right away). They have a rain dance facility however the music system accompanying it so ancient that it was barely audible. The rain dance apparatus was falling apart, water pressure was low and sprinklers were in a bad state. The saving grace was the DJ and dance facility they provided, but they wanted to charge a bomb for basic snacks for the party. The best part about Solluna were the rooms - very well done and comfortable. Overall, I found the staff to be least interested in our concerns - very surprising given that a large single client was staying with them. The front office manager was at sea doing final settlement, did not have a proper billing software and no credit card facility (we had to pool in cash and still fell short; it had to be withdrawn from an ATM in the city an hour away and given to them). Check out was a complete disaster.

I would've rated Solluna a 4 but for the service, maintenance and exit experience. I am sure there are better choices nearer to Delhi and one need not travel 10 hrs on a bus trip for this.

Dear Guest,

Greetings from The Solluna Resort !!

Thank you for your concern and time in reviewing the resort.

We are happy to know that your overall experience was good at The Solluna Resort and that you liked our serene location away from the city on bank of river Ramganga. It is this time of the year when river shrinks and seems shallow. We use is to our advantage in providing river crossing activity to our guests. The lawns and fruit orchids are what our guests love to see at Solluna. Due to heavy shredding of leaves at this time of year and windy conditions in the valley, maintaining the pool side to our standards becomes a challenge for the boys as they are always fighting against the wind while removing the floating leaves. Windy weather that day had made the cleaning process a little longer than normal. The use of changing room by the large group had made it a little dirty and certain tiny maintenance flaws have been taken care of. Thank you so much for pointing them out.

Glad to know that you liked the sets of Splitsvilla and the lounge maintained by the resort, as they are the hot favourites for this season. We are committed to providing you a different setting on your next visit to our resort. Our rain dance arena with light music is a high demand resort activity. Due to the fact that rain dance arena is made in the open with the Corbett forest surrounding it, the music cannot be above the prescribed volume levels. We will try to put in an ever better music system to meet your satisfaction levels on your next visit.

Since your reservation was through a third party, the rates and payment policy of the resort was already in knowledge of the group leader and the booking agency. It was a matter of bad weather conditions that day that our credit card machine was not receiving any signals and you had to pay the bills in cash. I hope you understand the position of the FO manager and the scarce options he was left with. He did everything to make the cc machine work and in the end had to ask for cash payments. We understand your concern, but this is not an everyday matter. We are operating a super luxury resort in Corbett and we are glad to know your thoughts on our cottage theme and comfort. High luxury comes at a little higher price tag and we charge only what does justice to our Eco friendly luxury resort.

We are committed to providing you and your loved ones an educational luxury experience at The Solluna Resort and would look forward to invite your interest time and again at our property.

Thank you,

Warm Regards,

Perfect location to enjoy a quiet vacation. Bang on the river. Nice rooms, the interiors are done very nicely. Ample space around rooms. Food is good. Ample parking space too.
The head chef there is very friendly and accomodative for kids food requests.
The place gets eerily silent in the night. Overall a very nice and peaceful stay.

Let’s just say when you are at a tranquil place like Jim Corbett National Park, you should lower your expectations on luxury. Once you have done that, you could actually start enjoying this resort. Clearly, there is a lot to improve upon – unimaginable time lag before you can get hot water in taps, breakfast dishes from hell, disoriented sports equipment, dilapidated gardens to name a few. However, the rooms have a soul and are based on stone theme. The whole resort has quaint feel about it which serves you well if you are searching for isolation. The staff is perfectly behaved and always willing to lend a helping hand with a smile.

I was travelling with a large group of colleagues for an year-end break and to reach the resort at 7 AM on a depressingly cold morning and be greeted by a hot cup of tea at the reception was much appreciated. The rooms are spacious, uncluttered and like I mentioned, possess a stone theme. Interesting to discover that you can make drawer knobs from pieces of stones. There is no TV in the room which adds to the flavor of the place. The resort is situated by the river Ramganga and you won’t be disappointed with a nice walk along its side or even to take an opportunity to sit on a rock and dip your feet in the icy cold water. Though be careful with the slippery terrains over there as one of my friends discovered much to his chagrin.

The safari was probably a sham and all we got in return was an uneventful drive along the roads without even entering the park. If wildlife is your calling in this place, as it should otherwise why come here, make sure you have a permit arranged in advance or like us you will end up wasting diesel spotting what our guide called “rare wild cat” while your colleagues refuse to share their blanket in an open jeep at 6 in the morning.

The resort needs to reinvent itself to attract the visitors a second time because its location, a good 90 minutes away from the National Park isn’t helpful. If you are visiting to get yourself marooned from rest of the population then totally go for it but make sure you have good company like I had.
