“It's good”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 September 2012 via mobile

This Resort is situated around 225kms from Bangalore... Good roads all the way except the last 15kms, where there are no roads only. We were a group of 6 who just landed in the morning without a booking but to our luck we got a tented cottage and a double decker room...
The view from the resort is very relaxing, if you are on a relaxing holiday and the beds are cozy enough for a good sleep and the whole are is really peaceful.

Positives:
1. The staff is very nice and friendly and very polite and their service provided by staff was really good.
2. Tented cottage is a real good place to stay, very calm ambience, cozy beds and a good bath area.
3. The food was really good(not finger lickin), there wasnt much variety for vegetarians though.

Negatives:-
1. The swimming pool was dirty but still we used it.
2. There are very few signboards and you might loose your way( we roamed around here n there for an hour)
3. Never take help of GPS or google maps- it will surely land u up somewhere else.
4. No credit/debit card machine to dobthe payment- we had to go back all the way to H D Kote to get the cash from ATM( we expected such high priced resort to have a card swiping machine as a least thing).
5. Not worth paying that amount of money.

Overall it was an okay okay experience... The disappointment was that the expectations were of very high luxury stay. But the staff, food and the views around made up for it.

I recommend it for a visit... But keep Ur expectations minimal

Excellent Food. Amazing views. True luxury camping. Memorable walks. Warm and helpful staff. Wonderful drive from Bangalore (220 kms or so) - only last 12 kms or so are kind of untarred - nothing any car cannot do.

Would like to mention that Mr. Andrews and his staff were extremely welcoming and warm. I am a pure non-vegetarian, but the veg fare totally blew my mind. The head chef from Bokaro is an excellent cook. He and his staff of 22 were always there, but never intrusive. Good things - there is a tip box, so no open tipping encouraged, bonfires into the night, BYOB policy, farmland to walk around, coracle boat rides, guide to accompany you for treks and to Kabini Wildlife Park. The other guests recently spotted a leopard and elephants.

Cons - pool not the cleanest!

Hilarious incident - a rat/bandicoot came into the bathroom and took away all opened soaps on the first night! So keep your soaps in the bathroom drawer!

As far as I could tell they have 2 machans, a tribal suite and about 7-9 tents. Bedding/Linen is clean. Bathroom is clean and the sunken pool is great! They have 24 hrs hot water and electricity with DG backup. They provide a single 3 point socket, so one can watch movies on a laptop as well.

Tips - carry mosquito repellent and a warm jacket (night got chilly around the bonfire!).

Room Tip: Got Tent 7 - nothing to complain about; except try having a bath in the mornings. Bathroom tent canv...

I have just finished a 6 month travel throughout India from Kerala to Ladakh and I have to say if there is one place I would return to right now it would be The Bison resort, hands down. Me and my girlfriend were planning on staying only 2-3 days but were so blown away by the place we stayed for two weeks. We arrived at the Bison just as the sun was setting and with the lake directly in front of our luxury african style tent, it transported us straight into a work of Monet, but much more beautiful. The service was absolutely impeccable. Shaaz (the owner) is a truly honest and kind man and the whole team really made sure we were happy as can be. The food was always top notch.Going out on the safari's was an amazing experience, try to get shaaz as a guide, his knowledge of the area and the animals is without a doubt one of the major factors we had such a great experience. He really knows his stuff!! What a pleasure it was to experience this place, from a romantic point of view I really felt me and my loved one were in paradise and will carry these memories forever I'm sure. I know I will be returning to the Bison next year and probably many years to come. I feel lucky to have found such a unique and beautiful place.

Room Tip: I personally preferred the deluxe room on stilts but the lower rooms bathrooms are really something...

This is my most preferred resort in the Nagarhole, Bandipur, Kabini area. A sure shot bet for those wildlife lovers, the most amazing sightings, and most of all the best hotel crew and an extremely friendly host who makes you feel at home! You just can't ask for any better. We've spent close to 20 nights over the last one year at "The Bison", and these guys have just perfected the art of Hospitality. Me and my wife, chose "The BISON" over several holiday destinations for our honeymoon of the several visits we've made and to no regret!! Looking forward to more loving nights out there! I'd say the location/Kabini as a destination are all best for Solo,Couple's who're upto to some adventure, and friends. Business and Families, may not find the place ideal.

Room Tip: The ones built on the stilts, have a good view of the lake, will be ideal for bird watchers/people w...
